Position: Millwright I / Welder
Location: Water Treatment Plant Maintenance – Edmonton, AB
Status: Full-time temporary for up to 11 months in duration
About the Role
EPCOR is hiring a Millwright I / Welder to support maintenance operations at the Edmonton Water Treatment Plants and associated reservoirs. In this role, you’ll perform a wide range of mechanical maintenance and welding activities to ensure critical water infrastructure operates safely, reliably, and efficiently.
Reporting to the Manager, WTP Maintenance Process, you’ll work in a safety-focused, team-oriented environment supporting essential services for the City of Edmonton.

What You’ll Do
As a Millwright I / Welder, your responsibilities will include:
- Performing scheduled, corrective, and improvement maintenance on mechanical equipment within an operating water treatment facility
- Installing, maintaining, repairing, and replacing pumps, valves, compressors, motors, and chemical feed equipment
- Disassembling, inspecting, cleaning, and lubricating equipment and machinery components
- Completing alignment and condition monitoring using laser alignment and ultrasound analysis tools
- Interpreting drawings, schematics, and manufacturer specifications for equipment installation, modification, and repair
- Developing and following safe work plans, hazard assessments, tailgate talks, and other safety documentation
- Supporting maintenance planning by preparing reports, maintaining documentation, and following up on completed work
- Researching and sourcing materials and parts as required
- Using EPCOR’s computerized maintenance management system (IVARA) and other software tools
- Collaborating with internal teams to meet performance, safety, and reliability targets
- Working at water treatment plants, reservoirs, and booster stations as required
What You Bring
Required qualifications and experience:
- High school diploma (GED, or equivalent secondary education)
- Journeyman Millwright and Journeyman Welder certifications
- Please note if you have obtained your journeyman certification outside of Alberta Interprovincial Red Seal certification (Millwright and/or Welder) will be required
- Minimum 3 years of trades experience in an industrial or commercial environment
- Water or wastewater facilities are an asset
- Strong understanding of mechanical maintenance practices, codes, standards, and OH&S requirements
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
- Experience working safely in operating plant environments
- Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License and ability to maintain an EPCOR driver’s permit:
- Maximum of 6 demerits at time of hire
- Prior unsafe‑driving infractions may result in non‑selection
- A 5‑year commercial Driver Abstract is required if one is not already on file
- Ability to operate an overhead crane
- Proficiency with basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Word and Excel)

- Experience with plant upgrades or construction-related activities
- Exposure to supervisory responsibilities or lead-hand work
