Meter Reader I (Temporary up to 11 Months)
Highlights of the Opportunity
We are currently hiring one (1) full-time temporary Meter Reader I, for a term of up to 11 months, based out of the Rossdale Water Treatment Plant in Edmonton, AB.

What You’ll Be Responsible For
Reporting to the Manager, AMI & System Support, the Meter Reader 1 is responsible for supporting accurate and timely meter data collection across the City of Edmonton. Key accountabilities include:
- Traveling to various locations throughout Edmonton using an EPCOR or personal vehicle
- Walking and/or driving assigned routes to collect manual, touchpad, and radio frequency meter readings in all weather conditions
- Using handheld devices, mobile applications, and meter-reading equipment
- Gaining access to residential, commercial, and industrial properties to complete readings
- Identifying and reporting site-specific safety or access issues for follow-up
- Recording and updating site information for tracking and documentation
- Providing a high level of customer service, including leaving notices and responding to general inquiries
- Contributing to a strong safety culture by identifying hazards, reporting near misses, and following safe work practices
- Communicating progress and performance updates to the Foreman
- Supporting continuous improvement by identifying challenges and contributing solutions
- Completing weekly time reporting as required

Qualifications & Requirements
- Grade 12 diploma (GED or equivalent)
- Licensing requirements:
- Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License is required; Class 3Q License is considered an asset.
- 6 or fewer demerits
- Ability to qualify for and maintain an EPCOR driver’s permit
- Driver Abstract may be required
- Past infractions for unsafe driving may result in non-selection
- Reliable transportation to and from various job sites and EPCOR facilities.
- Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License is required; Class 3Q License is considered an asset.

Skills & Capabilities
- Strong organizational skills and ability to plan daily work effectively
- Comfort using technology, including mobile devices and Microsoft Outlook
- Ability to complete required training and adapt to tools and processes
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Assets (not required)
- Experience in meter reading or similar field-based roles
- Familiarity with meter reading technology and equipment
- Working knowledge of Word and PowerPoint

- A technical/practical assessment may be administered during the selection process and this exercise will be used as a part of the selection criterion.
- To meet the physical demands required of some positions, candidates must be in good physical condition and willing to work in all weather conditions. Clearance on pre-placement medical and drug and alcohol testing may be required.
- The results of this competition may be used to fill similar vacant positions for up to six (6) months.
