We’re seeking a Creative Director, Art to help shape the next era of Edelman Financial Engines — one defined by modern storytelling, human insight, and bold creativity in a category that too often plays it safe.
This is a senior leadership role for a design-driven thinker who believes financial confidence is as emotional as it is analytical. You’ll lead a growing team of art directors and designers in bringing our brand to life across campaigns, content, and experiences that challenge conventions and inspire action.
Reporting to the VP, Brand & Creative, you’ll partner closely with the Creative Director, Copy to drive the creative output across all Edelman Financial Engines brand expressions — from integrated campaigns and always-on content to product marketing and internal initiatives.
You’ll champion a design system that’s as elegant as it is accessible, balancing craft with clarity to ensure our visual identity scales across every channel — and inspires confidence in millions of Americans planning their financial futures.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the visual expression of the Edelman Financial Engines brand across campaigns, content, social and digital experiences.
- Translate strategic insights into bold, clear creative ideas that connect emotionally and perform commercially.
- Partner with copywriters to develop integrated campaigns that bring our brand story to life across paid, owned, and earned media.
- Guide and mentor a team of art directors and designers, helping them hone their craft and think bigger about their impact.
- Ensure design excellence across everything we create — from concept to production — with an eye toward cohesion, scalability, and craft.
- Collaborate with external agency and production partners to extend the reach and consistency of our brand.
- Evolve and uphold our brand identity system, ensuring it grows alongside our ambitions.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in brand design and art direction, with both agency and in-house experience preferred.
- 5+ years of experience leading and mentoring creative teams.
- A portfolio that demonstrates exceptional visual storytelling and strategic thinking across campaigns and digital platforms.
- Deep fluency in modern design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, After Effects, etc.).
- A curiosity for new creative technologies, including motion design and generative AI.
- A belief that creative work in finance can be every bit as human, emotional, and original as in any category.
Edelman Financial Engines takes a market-based approach to pay. The expected base salary range for this role nationally is $131,700 - $175,600. However, final base pay will be carefully determined based on several factors, including responsibilities, job-related skills, relevant experience, geographic location, and market conditions. Additionally, this role may be eligible for other forms of compensation and benefits, such as a discretionary bonus, health, dental and other wellness plans, and 401(k) contributions.
