As a Senior Compensation Accountant on the Corporate Accounting Team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting all aspects of compensation accounting, including payroll, incentive programs, and equity-based compensation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles and experience in compensation analysis, compliance, and reporting.

For this Senior Compensation Accounting role, we are seeking a candidate with proven analytical skills to help advance our Compensation Accounting Team. Responsibilities:

  • Compensation Accounting: Support the accounting for all compensation-related activities for our 300+ employees paid via revenue share, including bonuses, and equity awards, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with GAAP and relevant regulations.
  • Incentive Programs: Provide accounting support for various incentive programs, including monthly accruals in accordance with company policies and accounting standards as well as on-going payments.
  • Compliance and Audits: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to compensation and payroll. Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and reports.
  • Equity Compensation: Support the accounting for stock options and other equity-based compensation, including the calculation of compensation expense and monthly reporting as a back up for current role.
  • Payroll Processing: Act as a backup to support the Manager of the bi-weekly payroll process, including monthly journal entries and reconciliations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting, with a focus on compensation or payroll.
  • Strong knowledge of compensation-related regulations and accounting standards (GAAP, ASC 718).
  • Proficient in accounting software and ERP systems; advanced Excel skills required.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Edelman Financial Engines takes a market-based approach to pay. The expected base salary range for this role nationally is $71,900-95,900. However, final base pay will be carefully determined based on several factors, including responsibilities, job-related skills, relevant experience, geographic location, and market conditions. Additionally, this role may be eligible for other forms of compensation and benefits, such as a discretionary bonus, health, dental and other wellness plans, and 401(k) contributions.
