Our fantastic interventional pain clinic in Goldsboro, NC is currently seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to assist with patients and in-office tasks. Overview:
East Carolina Pain Consultants (ECPC), a division of East Carolina Anesthesia Associates (ECAA) is North Carolina's leading pain practice for the treatment and management of chronic and acute pain. The providers in our pain clinics use a multi-modal approach to pain, treating it at the source. Our practices have strong partnerships in all specialties including physical therapy, chiropractic, behavioral health, mental health and psychiatric services. Our clinics are also equipped with state-of-the art fluoroscopy suites allowing our physicians to perform procedures conveniently and safely onsite. Our philosophy for highly quality outcomes partnered with our opioid-reduction strategy makes ECPC a wonderful place to work with purpose! We currently have a need for a certified or registered medical assistant in our Goldsboro office. The individual will assist the physician with procedures, and may be asked to occasionally provide coverage at our Wilson or Greenville offices.
 
Job Summary:
The Certified Medical Assistant is a vital role to the pain clinic. The Assistant will utilize both clinical and administrative tasks to help clinicians in the pain clinic. Daily responsibilities include checking-in patients, assisting the physician before/during/after procedures, in addition to various administrative tasks such as conducting prior authorizations and documenting medical information into the electronic medical records (EMR) system. The Assistant must be attentive to patient needs and communicate any potential issues to staff. The Medical Assistant identifies patient needs, provides safe and professional care, and communicates any needs to the provider. The Assistant will have to demonstrate professionalism and tact during difficult patient situations. The Medical Assistant will: 
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Triage patients. 
  • Take vitals.
  • Prepare/clean up procedure rooms. 
  • Assist physicians with a wide variety of procedures. 
  • Fax notes to other practices. 
  • Document patient notes in EMR (eClinicalWorks). 
  • Obtain prior authorizations for procedures. 
  • Assisting with front desk processes when needed. 
  • Assist with the C-arm. 
  • Handle difficult situations with professionalism and tact. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
 
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma. 
  • Must be a certified or registered medical assistant.
  • Two years’ medical assisting experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology. 
  • Proficiency with EMRs. 
 
Required Skills/Abilities: 
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with staff, physicians, and external customers. 
  • Strong ability to multitask and move from one project to another as needed. 
  • Works to resolve problems or determines an appropriate course of action in a timely manner.  
  • Strong time management, follow-through, and organizational skills. 
 
Work Environment/Physical Requirements
  • Work performed in an office environment. 
  • Involves frequent contact with physicians, leadership, and medical office staff. 
  • Work may be stressful at times. 
  • Interaction with others is frequent and often disruptive. 
  • Requires long periods of standing and walking. 
  • Physical activity can be irregular and fast-paced, regularly. 
  • Must possess sufficient eye-hand coordination/manual dexterity to operate medical and office equipment. 
  • Required normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports and evaluations. 
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds with no assistance.
