Dotdash Meredith is seeking a Senior Producer to join its Lifestyle Video team. You will be responsible for delivering videos that inspire and inform audiences across Beauty & Lifestyle brands, producing and directing content for platforms like TikTok and YouTube, and ensuring each video is optimized for its specific audience and format.

 

Assignment Details: 
37.5 hours per week
Start date: July 31, 2024
End date (with potential for extension): September 30, 2024
Hourly Rate: $52.50
Location: Los Angeles DDM Office

 

Dotdash Meredith is seeking a Senior Producer to join its Lifestyle Video team. As Senior Producer, you’ll be responsible for delivering videos designed to inspire and inform audiences across the Dotdash Meredith suite of Beauty & Lifestyle properties, from InStyle to Travel & Leisure. You will be a creative team player who has a passion for and understanding of the online video space, can develop clever ideas, and possesses the technical skills to efficiently execute across each phase of the production cycle.

 

The ideal Senior Producer understands what makes great short-form video for the web, has a contemporary sense of style and aesthetics, is an organized master of pre-production, and can comfortably run a set and deliver an edit that brings ideas to life. You will also be directing videos for a variety of platforms, including TikTok and YouTube, ensuring each video is optimized for the specific platform's audience and format. Proven experience producing video for digital publishers is a must, as is experience directing celebrity talent. Bonus points for a passion for social video and/or jumping in front of the camera to occasionally host videos.

 

Assignment Responsibilities:
  • Bring fresh story, execution, and edit ideas to the video strategy and maintain a can-do approach to getting those videos out into the world quickly.
  • Fluidly jump between pre-production, production, and post-production while managing multiple productions simultaneously.
  • Make great ideas tangible by creating treatments, scripts, and production plans. Lead sets and oversee edits, seeing production plans through to upload, managing all production steps along the way, including hitting budget and deadline targets.
  • Articulate and emulate best practices for short web video that drive video views and viewer engagement. Bring a vision that captures viewers’ attention and keeps them watching on-site and across social platforms.
  • Stay informed on digital video trends and use your findings to drive better production.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders from the earliest conceptual stages to ensure the best creative and production approaches are employed. Communicate effectively about set design, shooting, and lighting, and be comfortable picking up a camera.
  • Direct and manage celebrity talent, ensuring comfort and professionalism on set while capturing engaging content.
  • Review videos and provide detailed feedback on edits, ensuring that from the opening second to the bumper, videos meet editorial and brand standards. Jump into Premiere to crank out an edit or a special graphic when needed.
  • Have complete ownership over the final product across all platforms.
  • Solve big and small problems before they arise and take ownership of both the creative big picture and the tiny critical details, from scouting locations, casting, and procuring props to creating thumbnails.

 

Skills/Experience:
  • Extensive knowledge of producing short-form video and experience owning video projects from concept through delivery
  • 5+ years experience producing and directing for a digital publisher in the lifestyle space; proven understanding of best practices across social platforms (particularly TikTok, Instagram, YouTube Shorts, Twitter and Snapchat)
  • Proficient in overseeing edits and editing, with a keen sense of pacing and style that has a social media sensibility, Adobe Creative Suite proficiency 
  • Working knowledge of production tools and lighting techniques; a sharp eye for what looks good on camera
  • Experience working with talent; bonus points for on-camera experience
  • Flawless organizational skills, exceptional attention to detail and master of logistics. You foresee complications, make quick decisions, and troubleshoot on the fly.
  • Experience managing production budgets and timelines 
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced deadline-driven production environment
  • Stellar written and verbal communicator; impressive visual storytelling skills
