Contract Copy Editor and Fact-Checker
The Food & Wine team is looking for a curious, thorough, and detail-oriented copy editor and fact-checker to review print content prior to publication. The right candidate has a sharp eye and experience ensuring content is clear, logical, accurate, and grammatically correct.
Assignment Details:
25 hours per month
Start date: 2/1/2025
End date: 6 months with potential to extend
Hourly Rate: $25
Location: Remote - US
Assignment Responsibilities:
- Thoroughly fact-check and copyedit print stories
- Leverage backup material from writers and conduct independent research to confirm facts
- Communicate with editors, writers, and sources as needed to resolve queries
Skills/Experience:
- 2 to 3 years of copy editing and fact-checking experience
- Strong research and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in AP Style and experience applying a house style guide
- Knowledge of Google Workspace
- A keen eye for detail
- A relentless drive for accuracy
- A collaborative, creative work style and excellent communication skills
