Contract Writer
Allrecipes, the number one food site on the internet, is looking for a digital Contract Writer to report on food news & trends. In this role, you will pitch ideas, report stories, and occasionally update existing stories as they develop and/or become newsworthy.
This role is 25 hours/week with the expectation of delivering 6-8 articles each week.
In this role you will:
- Pitch and write 6-8 daily food news and trend stories per week
- Make sure stories are optimized with catchy headlines and strong ledes
- Find and interview food industry experts for stories that require additional reporting
- Monitor for breaking news and be ready to report them in real-time
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
Experience:
- 1-3 years of editorial experience working in digital media with a food/cooking focus
- CMS experience required
Specific Knowledge, Skills, Certifications and Abilities:
- Personal interest in the food and recipes space
- Detail-oriented and deadline-focused
- A self-starter who can pivot seamlessly as new initiatives and directives are identified and adjusts processes accordingly
- Familiarity with SEO best practices
- Proficiency in project management tools like Google Sheets, Airtable, or similar
Rate: $25/hour
