Jobvite is an online platform built, hosted and controlled by a third party supplier, Jobvite, and used by the Department for Business and Trade (DBT). It allows people to apply for a job in the Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) Directorate within DBT.
DBT wants the third party online services that it uses to comply with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA as a minimum so all users are able to use this platform.
This means you should be able to:
change colours, contrast levels and font sizes
zoom up to 200% without the text spilling off the screen
navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
The platform will:
use words that are clear and simple to understand throughout the website
ensure all images have accessible descriptions where necessary
AbilityNet has tips on how to make your device easier to use if you have a disability.
Recent testing showed that parts of the platform are not fully accessible, including:
Some options (including drop down menus) cannot be accessed with just a keyboard
The focus is not always visible when moving through some pages with the tab key
Some small parts of the platform are CSS dependent
Some pages contain titles that are not sufficiently descriptive
On mobile devices, the pages cannot be resized using pinch or spread gestures
This platform is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed above.
We are actively working with the supplier to improve the accessibility of this platform and for the supplier to fix these issues during regular service updates. We aim for all the third party services we use to be fully compliant by September 2020.
