JOB SUMMARY | |||
The Manager of IT Project Engineering is responsible for the successful execution of all client billable IT projects, as well as effectively managing a team of Project Engineers. The Manager of Project Engineering works closely with centralized services (Helpdesk, NOC) to successfully onboard new recurring Managed IT customers, project manages IT implementation projects, and also works closely with Pre-Sales Engineers and Account Executives on new projects in the sales pipeline. This is a “player-manager” role and not only requires effective people leadership skills, but also requires sound Project Management capability. This role reports to the Director of Managed IT Services. | |||
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES | |||
· Manage a team of Project Engineers performing technology implementation/managed services onboarding projects for paying customers. · Project manage billable client projects ensuring on-time/under budget completion. · Ensure Project Engineers are highly utilized (>70%) on client-billable projects · Support Centralized Services (Helpdesk, etc) as a technical escalation point for complex day-to-day customer indidents. · Work closely with Sales Executives and Sales Engineers to ensure new client projects are scoped properly. Ensure profitable delivery of projects and ensure project completeness to meet customer demands. · Monitor and measure the performance of the Project Engineering team, including key KPIs such as budget hours vs. actual hours, engineer utilization, effective bill rate, and other metrics as needed. | |||
JOB QUALIFICATIONS | |||
· At least five years of Project Management experience in companies/teams that implemented common IT/cybersecurity technologies such as: · Microsoft O365/M365 · Backup technologies (Axcient, Datto, Veeam, etc) · Endpoint security technologies (SentinelOne, Webroot, etc) · Firewall technologies (Cisco Meraki, Sonicwall, Fortinet, etc) · Email security technologies (Proofpoint, etc) · MDR security technologies (Arctic Wolf, SentinelOne, etc) · Wireless technologies (Aruba, etc) · Switching technologies (Ubiquity, HP, etc) · Desktop/laptop technologies (Dell, HP, IBM, etc) · Cloud technologies (VMWare, AWS, Azure) · At least 5 years of people/team leadership experience (hiring, performance management, termination, etc) · Familiarity with MSP applications like ConnectWise, and IT Glue desirable. · Must be comfortable and articulate in client-facing situations and confident in presenting in illustrative formats including effective whiteboard presentations. · Excellent analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills. · Ability to demonstrate professional written and verbal skills. · Ability to self-direct, self-pace, multi-task and function well under pressure of deadlines and conflicting priorities. · Ability to work with individuals at all levels of the organization. · Ability to exercise good judgment and demonstrate maturity. · The ability to maintain a physical condition necessary for sitting for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to exert light physical effort, typically involving lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling of up to 15 pounds. Tasks may involve extended periods of time sitting at a keyboard or workstation. The position requires that you be able to perform frequent downward flexion of neck, side-to-side turning of the neck, fine finger dexterity and grasp to manipulate the keyboard, telephone, writing instruments, papers, books, manuals, and reports. · The job entails walking, standing, bending, stooping, climbing, the ability to reach at and above shoulders, and twisting at the waist. On an infrequent basis, you must be able to squat and kneel. | |||

Must possess a relevant combination of education, experience, and training that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions. · Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or related technical field required · Masters Degree/MBA preferred | |||
