About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to oversee and coordinate daily maintenance operations within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient plant performance through strong leadership, technical expertise, and continuous improvement initiatives.
This position is onsite in Kansas City, MO.
What You’ll Do
- Supervise and direct daily maintenance staff through scheduling, planning, and coaching
- Promote and enforce a safe work environment through active participation in plant safety programs
- Develop, implement, and administer maintenance programs in compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards
- Ensure all maintenance work meets legal, safety, and quality requirements
- Partner with Maintenance and Operations teams to drive continuous improvement and reduce downtime
- Oversee preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance to improve equipment reliability and reduce costs
- Assign work with clear expectations and timely instructions
- Manage repair & maintenance (R&M) and manpower budgets, identifying cost‑saving opportunities
- Support capital project planning and ensure timely project completion
- Provide technical guidance during equipment breakdowns to safely restore production
- Determine required materials, initiate requisitions, and coordinate with Purchasing
- Monitor team performance through audits and constructive feedback
- Identify and maintain appropriate spare‑parts inventory levels
- Supervise storeroom operations to ensure parts availability and procedural compliance
- Conduct performance evaluations, goal‑setting, and corrective action as needed
- Lead and promote health and safety practices aligned with regulatory and company standards
- Maintain reliable, full‑time onsite attendance
- Perform additional projects as assigned
Who You Are
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum 5 years of mechanical/electrical supervisory experience in heavy industry
- Strong leadership, team‑building, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent analytical, motivational, and communication abilities
- Skilled in multitasking, prioritization, and goal achievement
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving capabilities
- Ability to understand and resolve complex maintenance issues
- Knowledge of safety regulations, scheduling, and maintenance management systems
- Ability to supervise complex maintenance and repair tasks
- Proficient in reading technical drawings and schematics
- Experience with SAP and MS Office
