You are passionate about life sciences and making a difference to cancer patients, their families, and healthcare providers. CytomX Therapeutics is seeking a highly strategic and analytically rigorous leader to join the Corporate Strategy & Business Development organization as Director / Senior Director, Corporate Strategy & New Product Planning. Reporting to the SVP & Chief Business Officer, this individual will play a critical role in shaping portfolio strategy, informing pipeline investment decisions, and driving commercial and competitive insights across the Company’s oncology portfolio.
This position sits at the intersection of corporate strategy, pipeline planning, competitive intelligence, and new product commercialization. The successful candidate will partner cross-functionally with Research, Clinical Development, Commercial, Finance, Investor Relations, and Executive Leadership to help maximize the value of CytomX’s differentiated oncology pipeline and platform technologies.
The ideal candidate combines strong strategic thinking with operational execution, scientific curiosity, and deep understanding of oncology drug development and commercialization dynamics. This is a highly visible role requiring both strategic acumen and hands-on execution.
Job Responsibilities:
Corporate & Portfolio Strategy
- Support development and execution of CytomX’s corporate and portfolio strategy across wholly owned and partnered oncology programs.
- Lead strategic assessments of pipeline opportunities, indication prioritization, lifecycle expansion opportunities, and portfolio tradeoff decisions incorporating clinical, scientific, competitive, commercial, and financial considerations.
- Prepare commercial assessments and NPV models to support pipeline investment, portfolio prioritization, and business development decisions.
- Lead ad-hoc strategy projects commissioned by the CEO or CBO spanning R&D prioritization, resource allocation, financing strategy, and competitive positioning
- Prepare materials and strategic recommendations for Executive Leadership Team and Board discussions.
New Product Planning
- Lead commercial and strategic planning activities for early- and mid-stage oncology assets, including development of Target Product Profiles (TPPs), patient segmentation, differentiation strategy, and market opportunity assessments.
- Develop and maintain disease area landscape assessments, synthesizing epidemiology, market research, competitive intelligence, pricing and payer / patient access considerations into actionable insights that inform indication selection, clinical trial design, and regulatory strategy.
- Help maintain strategic forecasting and market models to support corporate planning activities.
- Partner closely with Clinical Development and Translational teams to inform development strategy through the lens of future label, market positioning and unmet medical need.
Competitive Intelligence & Strategic Insights
- Monitor and synthesize competitive landscape developments across oncology, including ADCs and conditionally-active biologics.
- Develop strategic insights on emerging competitors, clinical data, partnering activity, and market dynamics.
- Generate actionable insights through primary and secondary market research, physician advisory boards, competitive intelligence, and market analytics.
- Assess evolving treatment paradigms, standard of care shifts, competitive readouts, and emerging technologies relevant to CytomX’s pipeline.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Serve as a strategic thought partner across functions, helping align development strategy with commercial opportunity and corporate objectives.
- Collaborate with Business Development on diligence assessments, external opportunity evaluations, and strategic partnership discussions.
- Foster a collaborative, entrepreneurial, and data-driven culture aligned with CytomX’s mission and values.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Advanced degree required (MBA, PhD, PharmD, MD, or equivalent).
- Minimally 8 years of relevant experience for director level and 13 years of relevant experience for senior director level in biotech, biopharma, consulting, investment banking, or pharmaceutical strategy.
- Demonstrated success in corporate strategy, new product planning, portfolio strategy, commercial assessment, and/or business development.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen; proficiency in building and interpreting opportunity assessments, NPV models, and scenario analyses.
- Strong understanding of oncology clinical development, commercialization, and competitive dynamics; experience in antibody therapeutics, ADCs, immuno-oncology, or targeted therapies strongly preferred.
- Exceptional analytical and communication skills, including experience translating complex scientific and commercial information into clear strategic recommendations.
- Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams and operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving biotech environment.

Compensation, Benefits, and So Much More
- The expected salary range for this role based on the primary location for this position in the San Francisco Bay Area is $210,000.00 - $260,000.00 per year for director level and $245,000.00 - $295,000.00 per year for senior director level. Offer amounts are determined by factors such as experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
