Salary: CI$5,105 to CI$6,637 or USD$6,113 to USD$7,948

Work Environment: Hybrid

Corporate – Workspace is primarily in the Administrative Building

In Field – Workspace is primarily Off Site at various locations around the island

Plant Area- Workspace is primarily in the Power Plant Area

Hybrid – Workspace is a combination of in the Administrative Building and in the Field or in the Plant Area

Satellite- Workspace is at one of CUC’s satellite locations

 

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Asset Management:

  • Develop asset management plans and reports for Energy Operation Division.
  • Analyze large datasets to make informed decisions about maintenance, lifecycle planning and risk management for assets.
  • Monitor asset performance metrics, identify inefficiencies and implement strategies to optimize asset utilization and longevity.
  • Assess risks associated with asset failure and best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement effective asset management strategies.

Reliability:

  • Prepare and analyze T&D system reliability statistics, outages and reports as it relates to the T&D System.
  • Conduct root cause investigations for major T&D outages with assistance from various departments to determine corrective action plans.
  • Perform engineering analysis on the CUC power system using a power system modelling applications to understand the impact of changes to load, diagnose system problems and develop plans for reconfiguring feeders for maintenance, upgrading etc.
  • Review all T&D outages tickets to determine if additional investigation and corrective actions plans are required.
  • Prepare formal and written recommendations for proposed reinforcements or upgrades to the T&D system to maintain and improve reliability.
  • Responsible for the preparation of T&D external reports including but not limited to quarterly reports to OfReg and Fortis etc.

Operational Support:

  • Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to energy delivery operations.
  • Provide support/assistance during major outages and restoration activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on grid related upgrades.
  • Work closely with the operations and maintenance teams to ensure procedures are practical, effective, and aligned with industry best practices.
  • Regularly review and update procedures to reflect changes in equipment, technology, and safety standards.
  • Assist with training on new procedures and technologies.
  • Assist with design, development, implementation and commissioning projects within the business unit.
  • Investigate and rectify health, safety and environmental concerns.

Other Duties:

Requirements

Applicants should possess:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in T&D engineering, T&D standards, T&D equipment, operations, and construction required. 
  • Experience with software packages such as asset management, maintenance work order software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with IEEE and NESC standards preferred

  • In-depth knowledge of asset management best practices and industry standards.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Anticipates potential problems and develops contingency plans to avoid them.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and industry standards.
