SUMMARY:
The Construction Manager (CM) provides leadership, direction, and oversight during all phases of construction around a fully operational job site, primarily in the food and beverage market segment.  The CM is mostly involved in the construction phase of the process. The Construction Manager coordinates the construction efforts, predicts and resolves conflicts before they impact the project, and delivers timely and cost-effective solutions. The CM oversees various projects by effectively utilizing resources to provide a finished design that meets all aspects of the construction/engineering specifications. This requires that the CM coordinates and supervises the project from conception to completion. The Construction Manager ensures that the client's highest expectations are met by delivering all projects on time, within budget, and in a safe manner. 
 
This is a full-time, FLSA exempt position.  It requires at least 40 hours per week with the ability to work more if necessary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:   
  • Preconstruction (10%)
    • Develops and manages, and occasionally works with the Project Director for Phasing Plan, Schedule and Bid Process (Pre-Bid, BRFI, Post Bids)
    • Works with Pre-Construction and Safety to develop Site Logistics Plans
    • Participates in Constructability & A/E progress meetings
    • Manages Submittal Process
  • Construction (85%)
    • Submits daily logs using Procore to track labor hours, communication, equipment, materials, and job site events.
    • Coordinates construction activities including subcontractor working hours, materials, equipment, and meetings (progress, plant, union) and establishes all paper flow and document control with client, contractors, regulatory agencies and others involved under the supervision of the project and program manager(s).
    • Communicate client requirements to the internal team and make sure any changes are reviewed and understood.
    • Ensures project quality and compliance with project plans/specifications, client specifications /design standards, and sanitary design
    • Ensures project compliance with all client contractor work rules, OSHA 1910 General Industry, OSHA 1926 Construction Safety regulations, and contractor orientations.
    • Assists in processing cost issues:  T&M validation, proposal reviews, field change order management
    • Manages overall project schedule
  • Post Construction (5%)
    • Develops and manages start-up plan with Project Manager and Plant
    • Organizes final inspections, develops punch list, complete punch list items, and follow up on warranty items
    • Schedules final sanitation
    • Assists in Closeout Documentation

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum bachelor's degree in construction management, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related construction degree.
  • Five (5) years' experience in the construction industry, with at least two (2) years in Project Management.
  • OSHA 30 Hour Training and/or STSC certification.
  • Minimum Training on Utilizing Equipment (i.e. man lifts for example)
  • Understands GMP – Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Products (Excel, MS Project, etc.)

While performing this job, the employee may be regularly required to drive to and from the jobsites/assigned locations, sit, walk, stand, talk, hear, and smell. A major portion of the employees’ tasks require extensive walking around the jobsite, including active construction areas. The employee is required to traverse uneven terrain and work from ladders, scaffolds, and other structures, as well as work at variable heights. The employee is frequently required to use hands to handle tools, controls, and for fine motor coordination like computer work. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl. The employee must also occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. 
 
For Field positions, while performing this job, the employee must frequently inspect the project site and may be exposed to ongoing construction activities, vibrations, noise, and various outside weather conditions (in all seasons). Work environment involves moderate risks which may require safety precautions. The noise level in the work environment may range from quiet to loud.  The proper use of Personnel Protective Equipment (including but not limited to safety boots, hardhat, and protective eyewear) is required on the jobsite.
