As the Materials Buyer you will be responsible for the execution of procurement activities for both direct and indirect materials in alignment with material requirements planning outputs and business demand. This role ensures the timely and accurate placement of purchase orders, proactive supplier coordination, and continuity of supply within a SOX-compliant, government-regulated environment.The Buyer plays a critical role in enabling operational performance by maintaining material availability, supporting service level targets, and ensuring disciplined adherence to procurement processes, internal controls, and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate is energetic, collaborative, and forward- thinking.
 
This position is based out of Stayner, ON 
 
What you’ll be doing:
  • Convert approved purchase requisitions into purchase orders (POs) in alignment with MRP signals, production schedules, and business requirements
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of all purchasing transactions, including pricing, quantities, specifications, and delivery terms
  • Maintain data integrity within ERP systems to support planning, inventory management, and financial accuracy
  • Manage order confirmations, delivery schedules, and supplier commitments to ensure alignment with required timelines
  • Drive attainment of service level and OTIF (On-Time In-Full) performance targets through disciplined order management, proactive expediting, and continuous alignment with supplier commitments and internal demand requirements
  • Identify supply risks early and implement mitigation actions, communicating impacts and recovery plans to stakeholders
  • Build and maintain effective supplier relationships to support operational execution and performance expectations
  • Actively manage supplier performance against defined service, quality, and delivery expectations, identifying risks and executing timely escalation and resolution to protect continuity of supply
  • Resolve supplier-related issues including shortages, delays, discrepancies, and quality concerns in collaboration with cross-functional teams
  • Execute all procurement activities in strict adherence to SOX controls, internal governance frameworks, and applicable regulatory requirements, ensuring full traceability, documentation integrity, and audit readiness at all times
  • Ensure proper approvals, documentation, and controls are consistently applied across all purchasing activities
  • Support internal and external audit requirements as needed
  • Partner closely with Planning, Operations, Quality, and Finance to ensure alignment on material priorities and availability
  • Balance supply continuity with inventory and working capital targets, minimizing excess and obsolete inventory while maintaining required service levels
Your Environment:
Interaction with warehouse, production, and controlled storage environments
 
You’ll need to have:
  • Post-Secondary degree or diploma in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration or relevant field.
  • 3-5 years’ experience as a Buyer, Procurement Specialist, or similar role, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment
  • Experience using ERP/MRP software.  SAP is an asset.
  • Intermediate level Excel and other Microsoft programs
  • Adept knowledge of materials planning principles, inventory control techniques, and supply chain management concepts
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external suppliers
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to details
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies is an asset
