Case Manager Trainee

This position is designed as a structured learning opportunity that provides real-world training in integrated care, documentation, crisis de-escalation, and client support services—under the guidance of experienced professionals.
Basic Training Areas Include:
- Population Overview: Introduction to the populations served (SMI, General Mental Health, Substance Use, etc.).
- Crisis De-Escalation: Learn techniques for managing and diffusing high-stress client interactions safely and effectively.
- Billing & Documentation: Understanding clinical documentation standards and accurate billing practices.
- Clinical Documentation Tools: Hands-on training in writing contact and progress notes using NextGen EHR.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Shadowing & Observation:
Observe case managers during client assessments, ISP (Individual Service Plans) updates, and team meetings. - Supportive Tasks:
Assist in typing staffing notes, preparing for sessions, supporting group facilitators, and helping counselors, peer supports, and other care team members. Aid in documentation of case management calls and updates to safety or service plans. - Assessment Training:
Shadow and take notes during client assessments, then compare documentation with experienced case managers to build assessment accuracy. - Progressive Responsibility:
As confidence and competency increase, trainees will begin contributing to assessment updates and documentation under the close supervision of Clinical Coordinators, Case Management Leads, and Clinical Directors. - Documenting Work:
Trainees will begin drafting assessments, contact notes, and life skills plans with ongoing feedback and support from their assigned mentors. - Ongoing Clinical Supervision:
Participate in required supervision sessions, coaching, and workshops to support clinical development and ensure compliance with documentation and service delivery standards.
Qualifications:
Education: Earners or potential earners of a Bachelor’s degree in a behavioral health related field. Candidate would be required to be a graduate of a Bachelor’s degree or in the last semester of completion.
Experience: No prior case management experience is required. Candidates will be required to have experience in customer service and an interest in learning case management skills.
Case Managers are required to have the ability to transport members using their own vehicle. To meet this requirement, they must possess:
A valid Arizona (AZ) driver's license
A clean driving record
Current auto insurance and registration
Must have a Level 1 fingerprint clearance card with no restrictions issued by Arizona Department of Public Safety of eligible to receive within eight (8) weeks of hire.
Safety sensitive is any job that includes tasks or duties that the employer in good faith believes could affect the safety or health of the employee performing the task or others
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Compensation:
Hourly Rate: $16.00/hour during the initial 120 hours of the training program. After the completion of the program and successful evaluation and transition to a Case Manager role, the compensation would be increased to $18.50/hour.
