About the Role

The RN Supervisor is a key member of the site management team at the Copa Voyager Center, a 24-bed youth residential treatment facility serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, behavioral health conditions, and medical needs.
This is a working supervisor role, providing both hands-on nursing care and clinical leadership. The RN Supervisor oversees daily nursing operations, supervises RNs, LPNs, and contract nursing staff, and collaborates with the Program Director and Director of Nursing to ensure the delivery of high-quality, trauma-informed, and integrated care.
The RN Supervisor reports administratively to the Program Director and clinically to the Director of Nursing.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care including assessments, monitoring, crisis intervention, and health education.
  • Document all nursing services accurately and timely in the EHR.
  • Oversee medication management, storage, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate nursing staff, including RNs, LPNs, and contract nurses.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, behavioral health providers, and external care partners.
  • Coordinate shift coverage to ensure 24/7 nursing oversight.
  • Lead nursing-related quality improvement, compliance reviews, and corrective action planning.
  • Participate in service planning, team meetings, and organizational initiatives.
  • Provide clinical leadership for nursing staff and act as a point of escalation for clinical issues.
  • Support recruitment, orientation, and retention of nursing staff.
  • Model recovery-oriented and trauma-informed care practices.
  • Uphold compliance with state regulations, agency policies, and nursing standards of practice.
 
Minimum Qualifications
  • Current, valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Arizona (required).
  • BSN strongly preferred.
  • 3–5 years of nursing experience in behavioral health, pediatrics, residential treatment, or military healthcare.
  • At least 1 year of supervisory or leadership experience in healthcare, behavioral health, or military settings.
  • Experience with youth with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) and co-occurring conditions preferred.
  • Valid AZ Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.
  • Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card (or eligibility within 8 weeks of hire).
  • Current TB Test clearance (required at hire and annually).
 
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of Arizona Nursing Rules & Regulations.
  • Expertise in integrated behavioral and medical care approaches.
  • Skilled in psychotropic medication management and safe administration practices.
  • Effective leadership, supervision, and team collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage crises calmly and use evidence-based de-escalation strategies.
  • Proficiency in EHR/EMR systems and MS Office.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Commitment to confidentiality, HIPAA compliance, and trauma-informed care.
