Who we are looking for:
The Registered Nurse II is a key member assigned to Copa Voyager Center, a 24-bed youth residential treatment facility serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, behavioral health conditions, and medical needs. RN II provides hands-on nursing services and ensures effective communication among care teams. Services include engagement, assessment, treatment planning, medication administration, education and supportive psychotherapy. RN II has an assigned caseload and is available as needed to any member assigned to their location. Participates in utilization management and quality improvement activities as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Currently, valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Arizona is required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience in behavioral health, pediatrics, residential treatment, or military healthcare settings.
  • Familiarity in working with youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and co-occurring behavioral/medical needs highly preferred.
  • Must have a valid AZ Driver’s License and the ability to meet and maintain Copa Health’s acceptable driving requirements.
  • Must have a fingerprint clearance card issued by the AZ Department of Public Safety or be eligible to receive one within eight (8) weeks of hire
  • TB Test and Physical clearance required at the time of hire and annually thereafter
Job Summary (Including, but not limited to: 
    • Conduct nursing assessments and administer observes and documents member self-administration of medication in accordance with provider orders.
    • Document all services in a timely and accurate manner in the electronic health record.
    • Monitor members for side effects, behavioral or medical changes, and report to provider as needed.
    • Collaborate with behavioral health providers, clinical team, and external care teams to coordinate care.
    • Provide crisis intervention and triage support to stabilize members during acute situations.
    • Educate members and caregivers on medications, diagnoses, wellness, and self-care.
    • Perform vital signs and render basic first aid for medical needs using higher levels of care when needed.
    • Accompanies members to community/specialty medical or dental appointments, coordinates care while at the appointments, and brings back orders and/or care recommendations from community/specialty medical or dental providers.
    • Participate in service planning and interdisciplinary care team meetings.
    • Provides direct oversight of all regulatory requirements associated with site clinical spaces, including member medication storage/disposal and supplies and spaces related to member medical care. This includes but is not limited to routine inspections, documentation audits for the observation of member self-administration of medication, and overall compliance with regulatory standards in maintaining clinical and medication storage areas at the site.
    • Promotes and role models nursing practice according to the recovery model, knows and practices judgment free member engagement which includes motivational interviewing, and ensures all nursing staff assists members to define and achieve their own recovery goals.
    • Participates in decentralized UM and QM activities as appropriate and necessary.
    • Complete all clinical documentation in a timely manner and in accordance with policies, procedures, and clinical protocols.
    • Adheres to all agency policies, licensure, and training requirements
    • To ensure compliance and adequate services, additional job duties may be required to meet the needs of the program and or department.
