Position Summary
Copa Health is seeking a Substance Abuse Specialist to join the Medical Assertive Community Treatment Team. The Substance Abuse Specialist works collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary care team to identify, assess, and provide stage-wise engagement, persuasion, active treatment, and relapse prevention/management services in individual and group formats for persons with alcohol, tobacco and other substance use involvement. Works as a collaborating MACT team member to facilitate recovery and inspire hope for service members while supporting their achievement of service plan goals. to assess service member needs, participate in the development of individual service plans, and provide advocacy and supports for service members, their families and involved community agencies. Provides on-call crisis intervention services, as well as weekend and holiday coverage on an established schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivers stage-wise treatment groups, outreach and engagement interventions in clinic and community settings under the oversight of a licensed BHP.
- Provides services to SMI adults consistent with evidence-based program standards.
- Provides mobile medication support to members in their home and other community settings. Observes and documents medication reactions, including adverse reactions and symptom stability, consistent with Copa Health protocols, and provides regular updates to the MACT Team psychiatrist on progress in care.
- Provides or arranges transportation to support primary contact member service needs.
- Participates in daily MACT Team meetings as well as any additional individual treatment teams or other team communication meetings as required.
- Documents all services and member incidents consistent with Copa Health policy and company standards
Qualifications
- High School diploma/GED and four plus (4+) years direct care experience, or
- Any combination of direct Behavioral Health experience/education totaling five (5) years of experience is acceptable. Example: Bachelor’s degree with one (1) year of experience.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Must have a fingerprint clearance card issued by the AZ Department of Public Safety or eligible to receive one within eight (8) weeks of hire.
- Must have reliable transportation, valid AZ Driver’s License with state minimum insurance coverage and ability to meet and maintain Copa Health’s acceptable driving requirements.
- TB Test clearance required at the time of hire and annually.
