    Supporting growth in our organization

At the Columbus Organization, we believe we provide a valuable and critical service for the individuals and families we support. But we also strive to employ tomorrow’s leaders – individuals with the knowledge, skills, passion and ambition to transform the company and the industry. The Columbus Organization has developed programs designed to not just support our employees in the jobs they are doing today, but to help them become leaders in the future.

    The Columbus Organization Ambassador Program

The Ambassador Program is a Recognition Program for a high-performing group of community-facing staff. The program provides an opportunity for Columbus staff to grow, learn, gain greater internal visibility, and advance their careers in the organization. The program is designed to significantly increase Columbus outreach to the communities served and to provide insights from the field to help the organization make more informed decisions that support the changing needs of Individuals and Families. Essentially, Ambassadors are a liaison between the organization and the community. Ambassadors define the future of The Columbus Organization, and the company takes great joy in identifying accomplished employees to be the face and voice of the company.

The Columbus Organization Rising Stars Program

The Rising Stars program provides an opportunity for accomplished employees to expand their scope of impact and gain valuable skills/knowledge to grow in their career. Recognized by Managers throughout the organization, Rising Stars become valuable contributors and leaders on high visibility projects in the organization. These projects could relate directly to their current role (e.g., care coordination) or outside their role. Because Rising Stars have demonstrated a unique capacity for success, the organization is thrilled to give these individuals opportunities to develop process improvements, expand outreach, fill critical gaps in the organization, and develop/execute creative new ideas.

    Community Outreach

The value we bring to the people we serve goes far beyond our expertise, compassion, skills, and knowledge. It is our commitment to support people by simply being an integral part of the community, sharing in the challenges and joys of our client families, and doing what we can to drive positive change for the entire community.

    Community Outreach

    Community Outreach

    More than just a job

At The Columbus Organization, we see the bigger picture in our communities, and we continually find opportunities to integrate ourselves into the fabric of the world that surrounds the people we serve. For example, our Florida office will be distributing food boxes to individuals with developmental disabilities in the Largo community, thanks to one of our rising stars. Rising Stars are accomplished support coordinators who take on special projects to support the company and the community of people we serve. This Florida food distribution opened the opportunity for individuals we support to receive donations from the drive. And by choosing an Adult Day Program as the venue, we were able to spark new relationships with providers. This is just one of the many ways Columbus enjoys becoming a central part of communities throughout the country.

  • Learning & Development

    Learning & Development

We know that to be the best at what we do, we must continually improve, grow, and learn. At The Columbus Organization, our dedication to training ensures every individual can reach their true potential and achieve their own personal and professional goals.

    Learning & Development

Expanding skills to better serve our community

In early 2020, Columbus launched our new Learning Management System (LMS) through UltiPro. The LMS provides a centralized place for staff to complete much of their required onboarding training to promote best practice and streamline our training efforts across the company. In addition, Columbus offers several elective courses for staff to continue to grow knowledge and skills.

For over a decade, The Columbus Organization has achieved and maintained accreditation from CARF International -- an independent, nonprofit accreditor of health and human services providers. But what does it mean to be CARF-accredited? This accreditation shows Columbus’ commitment to delivering services that meet and exceed CARF international standards. We do this by demonstrating compliance in several areas which are all in support of high quality, person-centered service provision. These areas include corporate business practices, policies and procedures, continuous quality improvement, and staff training. For our Care Coordination staff, the LMS is a key component in tracking training to maintain CARF compliance.

Throughout the year, employees receive notices through the LMS that various trainings have been assigned. In many cases, these trainings meet an identified training area needed for CARF, legal, or contract compliance. It is important to note, however, that these trainings are not just to check a box. Each training available to staff in the LMS, whether required or elective, is intended to support the professional growth of Columbus staff to provide the best possible services to the individuals and families that we serve.

  • Diversity & Inclusion

    Diversity & Inclusion

To us, diversity is a not just a corporate check box. It is the essential fiber that makes us who we are as a company. We value all people and maintain an inclusive environment that treats each and every person with respect. We also recognize that there is unfortunately racial, ethnic, gender, and sexual identity injustice in our society. The Columbus Organization is not a bubble, nor do we believe our responsibility in maintaining justice ends at our doors. We therefore also seek opportunities to take a leadership role in society to ensure that all people are treated fairly, justly, and with dignity.
