The Columbus Organization is expanding its team of physicians in the Great State of Indiana.  Interviews now being scheduled for Medical Director-Psychiatrist at an inpatient mental health facility in Madison, IN.
Madison is located just a short distance from Louisville, KY and is known as
"The Storybook Town"

Facility Physical Environment: 120 bed inpatient mental health facility located in Madison, IN, just short distance from Louisville, KY.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Overall supervision of psychiatric and medical practice in Madison State Hospital, insuring adequate medical coverage twenty-four hours every day for every patient.
  • Review of the medical and psychiatric care of all Madison State Hospital patients as an intermediate clinical supervisor.
  • Review of all those who apply for membership and/or re-appointment to the Medical Staff.
  • Coordination of continuity of care with the psychiatric and medical staff of district Community Mental Health Centers and FSSA/Division of Mental Health and Addiction.
  • Coordination for the Medical Staff in hospital's effort to secure and maintain accreditation, certification, and licensure as it pertains to Joint Commission and CMS standards of care.
  • Coordinating and maintaining the continuing education requirements of Medical and Dental staff.
  • Supervise and review the medical/dental portion of the patient record of treatment, insuring that treatment plans, and other necessary documentation, are complete, timely and appropriate.
  • Reviews charting by Medical and Dental staff regarding requirements for completion of patient records. 
  • Recruiting and securing medical staff to fill vacancies; providing for new staff orientation in coordination with Human Resources Department to fill vacancies.
  • Represent Medical Staff in planning, budgeting, and evaluating hospital programs.  Serve as member of hospital's executive administrative group.
  • Coordination of the establishment and review of rules and regulations (by-laws) governing the medical, dental and psychology staff, including application for membership to Medical Staff, reviewing of privileges and an appeal mechanism for resolution of hospital/staff conflict.
  • Other related duties as assigned, including serving on hospital performance improvement teams, and any task groups, or District and Division of Mental Health and Addiction teams, this includes quarterly meetings with Medical Directors of the other state hospitals.
  • Promote the use of evidence practices.
  • Possess adequate knowledge/experience in  civil commitment procedures.  
  • Demonstrated skill in electronic medical records.
