Position Overview:   

The City of Kitchener is hiring summer students to help the Forestry area of our Parks and Cemeteries department with plant maintenance.   

    

Responsibilities:   

  • Waters plant materials as required.
  • Performs basic structural pruning on newly planted trees
  • Assists Forestry staff with projects on an as-needed basis.
  • Assists Horticulture staff with various maintenance duties.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    

NOTE:   

Initial selection for available positions will be for applications received prior to February 18, 2024. Applications received after this date will be kept in an application pool in case of future opportunities.       

    

Requirements:   

  • Valid MTO G class driver's license in good standing.
  • Must provide Drivers Abstract at your own expense as a condition of employment.
  • Minimum equivalent to partial secondary school education.
  • Up to 1 month of related experience.
  • Must be reliable with a good attitude.
  • Must be willing to work in a team environment and have a willingness to accept directions.
  • Ability to perform physical labour.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Must be reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
