Controller
Description
The Position: The Controller is a director level full-time position reporting to the Chief Financial Officer. This key leadership role is responsible for financial reporting accuracy and internal controls with the development and maintenance of GAAP principles and practices. Controller also directs the budget/forecast development and financial analysis and oversight of financial analysis to support business decisions.
The hourly rate for the Controller at Center For Elders Independence is $ 124,791 to $199,653 per yr. Annual rate based on the market for the Controller position, as well as experience, skills, abilities and work history
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the annual operating and capital budget development
- Oversight of Claims on the timely adjudication and regulatory compliance
- Direct Financial Analysts with revenue rate development
- Coordinate audits with external CPA, federal, and state regulators.
- Oversee the accurate and timely preparation of financial reporting for leadership, Board of Directors, and regulators
- Coordinate and publish month-end closing calendar
- Support other departments with financial information, analysis, accounting policy while providing observations, and recommendations
- Control of chart of accounts development to facilitate required reporting needs.
- Establish, evaluate, and monitor of financial internal controls.
- Monitor, comprehend, communicate, and ensure adherence to GAAP regulations
- Review and perform tests for accuracy of financial statements
- Monitor and review department duties and work flow to develop more efficient procedures while maintaining a high level accuracy
- Follow and uphold all policies and procedures
- Comply with all organizational training requirements
- Support learning and team development including back up training opportunities for various positions and professional development
- Maintain safe working environment by following CEI’s Safety Policies & Procedures
- Maintain a courteous, helpful and professional attitude, while displaying a willingness and ability to be responsive to all customer groups
- Perform supervisory duties such as interview, hire, and train employees; plan, assign and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems
- Evaluate the performance of direct reports, recommending training, and keep staff at the highest level of skill necessary to meet the department's needs and objective
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Require at least 10 years’ experience in accounting. Healthcare experience preferred.
- Require at least 5 years’ experience as an accounting manager, public accounting experience a plus.
- At least 3 years as a Controller, or related position, with a similarly sized organization ($150 to $250 million).
- BA degree required; Master’s Degree and/or CPA is preferred.
- Strong technical and analytical skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and accounting software. Advanced working knowledge of Excel.
- Advanced technical and analytical skills, including proficiency with Microsoft products such and Dynamics Great Plains or like product
- Experience with budget software such as Adaptive Workplace
- Excellent communication and organizational skills. Ability to compose original correspondence.
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary environment
- Maintain working relationships with management, staff, contract officers, and staff with State and Federal agencies.
