About the Job
As the Assistant Director of Faculty Development, you serve as a strategic partner to the Director of Faculty Development, providing leadership and operational oversight for faculty support, training, mentoring, and performance systems within the College of Adult and Graduate Studies (CAGS). This role ensures faculty are equipped to deliver high-quality, Christ-centered instruction in an online adult learning environment.
 
You play a central role in advancing faculty effectiveness through the analysis of faculty performance data, development of actionable reports, and implementation of targeted improvement strategies. You serve as a key leader in building and sustaining a robust, professional faculty development department grounded in best practices in online teaching, adult learning, and instructional design.
 
This position coordinates faculty support, instructional coaching, onboarding, and development initiatives while collaborating closely with academic leadership. You are also responsible for researching, evaluating, and implementing emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), to enhance faculty development and teaching practices. Reporting to the Director of Faculty Development, you maintain accurate faculty records, provide regular reports, and lead continuous improvement of faculty development systems and outcomes.

We’re looking for candidates who have: 
 
  1. Master’s degree required.
  2. 5–10 years of experience in online and adult-focused higher education preferred.
  3. Strong knowledge of adult learning theory and online pedagogy.
  4. Experience with learning management systems and educational technologies (e.g., Brightspace).
  5. Technological proficiency with Microsoft Office, Salesforce, and multimedia tools for video production and training development, including the effective use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools, GPTs, and digital content creation platforms.
  6. Demonstrated ability to lead training, mentoring, or faculty development initiatives.
  7. Ability to analyze and interpret faculty performance data.
  8. Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
  9. Ability to integrate a Christian worldview into professional responsibilities.
  10. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Key Job Duties
  1. Serve as a strategic partner to the Director of Faculty Development, contributing to departmental vision, priorities, and the advancement of faculty development systems and initiatives.
  2. Manage and direct the Faculty Mentoring Program, ensuring effective onboarding, development, and support of new and existing faculty.
  3. Coordinate and execute New Faculty Orientation, ensuring faculty readiness for teaching in an online adult learning environment.
  4. Oversee faculty performance monitoring systems, including the review and analysis of coaching observations, engagement metrics, and instructional quality indicators.
  5. Develop and deliver faculty performance reports, providing data-informed insights, identifying trends, and supporting academic leadership in decision-making.
  6. Oversee and coordinate the Faculty Course Review process, including evaluation, feedback, and follow-up support to ensure continuous instructional improvement.
  7. Plan, develop, and deliver faculty development training, ensuring alignment with best practices in online pedagogy, andragogy, student engagement, and assessment.
  8. Lead the development and continuous improvement of faculty development resources, including the integration and strategic utilization of external professional development partnerships (e.g., Online Learning Consortium), ensuring resources are accessible, aligned with best practices, and effectively adopted by faculty.
  9. Collaborate with academic leadership, providing regular reports, insights, and recommendations related to faculty performance, development outcomes, and program effectiveness.
  10. Research, evaluate, and implement emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), to enhance faculty development, instructional practices, and operational efficiency.
  11. Contribute to the development of a high-functioning, professional faculty development department, grounded in innovation, continuous improvement, and excellence in teaching and learning.
  12. Represent Faculty Development in meetings and complete additional duties as assigned.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, you may be required to walk, stand, sit, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, speak with clarity, and have appropriate vision and hearing capabilities. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. You may be required to work occasional irregular hours, including some nights and weekends.

 Pay and benefits will be discussed in more detail as candidates progress through the interview process. The pay range for this job is: $62,500 - $67,500 Annually and is assigned by reviewing a combination of job-related factors that may include: internal/external pay equity, the salary structure/pay grade, or a candidate’s qualifications/experience for the job. A wage range posted is not a guarantee of a specific wage and CCU reserves the right to make pay decisions based on economic and equity considerations. Spiritual Requirements

  1. Committed follower of Jesus Christ, who believes there is no salvation apart from faith in his atonement on the cross, by grace alone becoming "born again" thus beginning a personal relationship with Christ, the Son of God.
  2. Able to effectively communicate personal faith and apply biblical principles and convictions in the workplace. Must have a strong sense of calling to the ministry of Colorado Christian University.
  3. Regularly attend and be engaged in meaningful involvement in a Bible-believing evangelical local church. Knowledgeable about the Word of God and passionate about Christian education.
  4. Must be a traditional evangelical Christian whose lifestyle is in consonance with sound Christian principles, is compatible with CCU’s Statement of Faith, and is in agreement with the Strategic Priorities promulgated by the University.
