CARFAX has been delivering exceptional experiences through revolutionary products for over 30 years. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director - Accounting to join our finance team. This key leadership position will oversee our Accounts Payable, Accounting, and Payroll teams to ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulatory standards, and the continuous improvement of our financial processes. The Director - Accounting will work closely with the Vice President - Controller to support the financial health of the organization.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Supervision and Management:
    • Lead and manage the Accounts Payable, Accounting, and Payroll teams, providing guidance and support to ensure high performance and professional development.
    • Oversee accounting operations, ensuring timely and accurate financial transactions and record-keeping.
    • Manage treasury, financial compliance, and tax functions in conjunction with holding company.
    • Review and approve reconciliations, journal entries, and other key financial documents.
  • Financial Reporting and Compliance:
    • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and other relevant accounting standards.
    • Ensure compliance with internal policies, SOX requirements, and external regulations.
    • Coordinate with external auditors during audits and provide required documentation and explanations.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Develop and update accounting policies and procedures to reflect current practices and regulatory changes.
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies within Accounting, Accounts Payable, and Payroll functions.
    • Implement best practices, new technologies, and automation tools to enhance productivity and accuracy.
    • Participate in special projects and cross-departmental initiatives as needed.
  • Leadership and Collaboration:
    • Foster a culture of teamwork, innovation, and excellence within the finance department.
    • Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial information and to support organizational goals.
    • Serve as a trusted advisor and resource for accounting-related inquiries and issues.
What we’re looking for:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3-5 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting.
  • Experience with General Accounting, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Treasury, Compliance, and Tax functions.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; experience with NetSuite is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities, with a track record of developing and mentoring staff.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • May require occasional evening or weekend work to meet deadlines.
