Spring 2022 Legal Externship - San Francisco Office

California Regional San Francisco, California Remote, United States

Earthjustice’s San Francisco location of the California Regional Office is accepting applications for full- or part-time legal externs for spring 2022. We are seeking current law students who share a passion for justice and a healthy environment, and who are eligible to receive academic credit for the externship.

Earthjustice is the premier nonprofit environmental law organization. We take on the biggest, most precedent-setting cases across the country. We wield the power of law and the strength of partnership to protect people’s health; to preserve magnificent places and wildlife; to advance clean energy; and to combat climate change. We partner with thousands of groups, supporters, individuals and communities to engage the critical environmental issues of our time, and bring about positive change. We are guided by a passionate, ambitious vision for the future for people and our planet: until justice stands for all, we will never rest. We are here because the earth needs a good lawyer.

The California Regional Office has undertaken campaigns to protect lands and wildlife, improve air and water quality, promote clean energy and transportation policies, and ensure that all state residents are protected from toxic substances. The San Francisco location currently has work focusing on clean energy, air quality, crude transport and oil and gas development, pesticide and other toxic exposure issues, water supply and quality, and impacts to imperiled fish and wildlife species. Our attorneys bring a mix of lawsuits under federal environmental laws such as the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and Endangered Species Act, as well as California statutes like the California Environmental Quality Act, to protect the environment and promote healthy communities.
