Director, Marketing Communications (MARCOMM) - *REMOTE

What You Will Be Doing:

We are recruiting for a Director, Marketing Communications (MARCOMM) to join our team.  In this role, you will be reporting directly to the Chief Marketing Officer, and you will collaborate with your peers on the marketing team to ensure we meet our shared objectives. You will own oversight for our brand across the company and responsibility for ensuring all external and internal messaging aligns with our mission, culture, and values. To that end, you will be managing the relationship with our external PR and creative agencies and leading content creation in multiple channels. You will manage our editorial calendar and ensure our brand voice comes through in everything we say and do across all channels. 

Day In The Life:

  • Relationship Manager – Act as primary relationship manager and ensure our  agency partners (PR, creative, etc.) are meeting business needs and supporting/representing our brand effectively.
  • Editorial Calendar Management – Brainstorm ideas with your peers across the company especially sales and marketing, and collaborate with marketing to make decisions. Hold internal and external partners accountable in meeting deadlines and communicating changes.
  • Content Creation – Create content needed to engage our audience throughout their buying cycle, delivering the right message, the right way, at the right time, and in the right channel (social media, earned media, etc.) to keep them moving forward in their relationship with CrashPlan. Oversee creation of thought leadership content by our spokespeople at all levels.
  • Create MarComm Strategies - In partnership with the Marketing, Product, and Sales teams, develop clear messages and content. Always be assessing our current channels for effectiveness and look for new channels and techniques to meet objectives.
  • Analyst Relations - collaborate with the CMO and VP of Product to develop and execute an analyst relations strategy designed to ensure report coverage, elicit accurate referrals, gain market insights, and garner feedback for go-to-market and product strategies.

Who You Are:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or related discipline and/or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of progressive marketing experience, including 5+ years of experience owning content creation and editorial management
  • Experience acting as the primary owner of an agency relationship
  • Experience working across multiples levels and functions; ability to deliver complex information in bite-size, easy to understand manner
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with both internal and external stakeholders and senior leadership
  • Ability to travel as opportunity/need requires - approximately 10-15%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a SaaS environment, including backup, recovery, cybersecurity, and/or related product space


The base salary range for this position is $140,000 - $170,000/year. This position is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance in addition to a full range of benefits. Final compensation will be dependent on various factors relevant to the position and the candidate such as geographical location, candidate qualifications, certifications, relevant job-related work experience, education, skillset and other relevant business and organizational factors, consistent with applicable law. This information is provided per the relevant state and local pay transparency laws for the location in which this position will be performed.
