Summary & Key Responsibilities:

The EDIT Team manages the production systems and tools used by the digital editorial teams. We oversee, design and implement the tools and processes used to create and deliver content to Al Jazeera’s digital platforms.

We collaborate closely with editorial, technology and operations teams to improve workflows, set best practices and provide instructional support for new products. We introduce new tools and innovate on existing processes to best position editorial teams as they adapt to industry changes.

The Product Manager will assist with the building and implementation of a production management system enabling editorial collaboration across all Al Jazeera’s digital products. They will work across editorial, product and business groups to define global and local workflows as well as promote the vision of a unified organization coordinated on data-powered collaboration.

The ideal candidate must have project management experience working with teams on projects involving multiple stakeholders and organizations. They’ll help teams adopt a central suite of tools that form the foundation of every team’s production system. The ideal candidate must be able to communicate effectively in multinational groups. They must demonstrate an understanding of editorial standards, practices and ethics as well as content production and promotion across all media and social platforms.

The Product Manager will manage multiple projects at once and must have excellent organizational, communication and active listening skills. The ideal candidate will be pro-active, attuned to the needs of all stakeholders.



Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in journalism, communications, media/audio production or another related field.

Required Skills:

  • 2 years of experience or more in end-to-end project management in a product development environment for a broadcast or multi-platform organization
  • Ability to work on large-scale projects with an international team of editors, programmers, designers, and senior management
  • Ability to analyze information and solve problems quickly
  • Ability to collect, organize and communicate user feedback
  • User testing experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Work independently as well as on a team
  • Ability to pivot smoothly as priorities or the news cycle change

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of audio/video post-production practices
  • Familiarity with social media publishing
  • Familiarity with editorial practices
  • Familiarity with content management systems
  • Familiarity with analyzing audience data
  • Organization and time management
  • Interpersonal skills in an international, multi-lingual environment
  • Fluency in Arabic a plus
