Joining a clinic with its own unique identity is like a cross-country car ride with your ears flapping in the breeze.  Burlington Emergency & Veterinary Specialists is looking to add a compassionate and skilled Ophthalmology Technician to our team. This role will work Tuesday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM; availability for this schedule is required.

Burlington Emergency & Veterinary Specialists (BEVS) is Vermont’s only specialty and 24/7 emergency animal hospital, and we have a wide variety of specialists onsite, in addition to a world-class ER and ICU and supportive medicine options.    

Ophthalmology Technician

$22.00 - $30.00 depending on experience and licensure. 

Plus, get up to a $2,500 incentive bonus, which has the same zing as a hundred pounds of fresh cat nip.  

WHAT YOU’LL DO    

  • Provide compassionate care to pet patients and their loved ones
  • Keep accurate medical records in accordance with hospital policy
  • Assist doctors in all department procedures, including prepping and assisting in surgery
  • Prepare and maintain the exam rooms and treatment areas
  • Perform physical assessments and record your observations
  • Assist the Veterinarian in medical specialty procedures (be comfortable with blood draws; prepare patients for surgery; monitor patients during surgery and recovery; administer fluids and other treatments)
  • Prepare estimates for procedures and discuss financial commitments with clients
  • Explain necessary follow-up and home care instructions
  • Stock clinic treatment area and exam rooms, and inform inventory manager when supplies need to be ordered
  • Care for all surgical materials and keep the operating room properly stocked and prepared for surgery

REQUIREMENTS     

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Veterinary Technician Certification (CVT) or License (LVT) preferred but not required
  • Must have a positive attitude and be a team player
  • Minimum of one year of technician experience plus confidence with nursing and anesthesia skills
  • Prior emergency and critical care/specialty experience preferred; pursuit of CVT and/or VTS encouraged and financially supported for full-time employee.
  • Qualified candidates who want to work in a fast-paced, high demand environment alongside other highly skilled technicians, boarded veterinary specialists, and emergency veterinarians
  • Applicants must be hardworking, self-motivated, enthusiastic veterinary technicians, with a special interest in specialty medicine
