Position Overview

Brinks Home is seeking an IT Application Senior Developer to help lead the design, development and support of business applications that support our customer order, installation and monitoring journey. This role provides technical and architectural leadership while building and maintaining .NET applications, APIs and integrations.

AI-assisted development is a core part of how this team works. The Senior Developer will direct AI coding agents to prepare technical plans, generate code and tests, and open pull requests. The role requires sound engineering judgment to evaluate AI-generated work, ensure quality and security, and remain accountable for changes released to production. The successful candidate will also help establish effective practices and mentor teammates.

Key Responsibilities:

Application Development and Support

  • Lead the application development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, solution design, development, testing, code review and ongoing support.
  • Design, build and maintain .NET web applications, APIs and integrations in accordance with company standards and REST principles.
  • Develop solutions across cloud-based and service-oriented architectures, integrating core business systems such as CRM, ERP, inventory and monitoring platforms.
  • Investigate and resolve production issues using application logs, telemetry, databases and AI-assisted analysis; document fixes and maintain runbooks.
  • Maintain coding standards, improve application performance, address technical debt and support continuous integration.

AI-Assisted Engineering

  • Translate Jira stories into clear, testable acceptance criteria, including edge cases and failure scenarios.
  • Direct AI coding agents, such as Claude Code, to develop file-level technical plans and implement code, tests and pull requests.
  • Critically review AI-generated plans, code and tests for accuracy, security, scope, quality and potential regressions.
  • Maintain traceability from requirements and technical plans through testing and deployment, including documentation for change approval requests.
  • Evaluate test results in system integration and staging environments and determine when changes are ready for production.
  • Improve shared agent prompts, skills and rules, and coach developers on effective AI use and appropriate human review.

Technical Leadership and Collaboration

  • Help establish technical and architectural direction for applications and systems.
  • Partner with product owners and business stakeholders to explore solutions and deliver business value.
  • Lead peer reviews and quality assurance activities, participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and recommend process improvements.
  • Mentor developers and share technical knowledge with engineering, support and cross-functional teams.
  • Research new tools and frameworks and assess their impact on business processes, application health and performance.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 8 years of experience designing, building and maintaining production web or business applications, including 3 or more years with C#/.NET.
  • At least 8 years of experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Daily, hands-on experience using AI coding agents or assistants such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot or Cursor on real development work.
  • Strong expertise in C#, .NET Core/ASP.NET MVC and Entity Framework, with solid SQL Server skills, including query analysis and working with large production tables.
  • Experience designing, maintaining and consuming REST APIs; familiarity with GraphQL and third-party or legacy integrations is beneficial.
  • Full-stack development experience with Angular, React, Vue or a similar framework, as well as HTML5, CSS3 and JSON.
  • Experience with Azure, cloud application architecture, service-oriented systems, Git-based CI/CD and DevOps practices.
  • Ability to plan, implement, test and troubleshoot complex software and system solutions, and to identify security or quality issues in AI-generated code.
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, technical documentation, code reviews and established quality assurance practices.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving and collaboration skills, including the ability to work effectively with product owners, stakeholders and cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience developing AI-agent skills, MCP servers, custom tool integrations or AI-assisted software development workflows.
  • Knowledge of AI-related risks, including prompt injection, secret handling, data protection and licensing of generated code.
  • Familiarity with Azure App Services, Key Vault, Application Insights, Log Analytics, Entra ID, Sentry or ConfigCat.
  • Experience with API management tools such as Sentinet and CI/CD platforms such as CircleCI or Octopus Deploy.
  • Python experience and knowledge of Linux; familiarity with Ruby, Nuxt.js, Heroku or Selenium.
  • Experience with ERP/CRM platforms such as Business Central or SalesLogix, home security systems or alarm-monitoring workflows.
  • Experience mentoring developers through changes in tools, technology or development processes.

Technology Environment:

The team works with C#/.NET, Python, REST APIs and modern web frameworks; SQL Server and business application databases; Azure services including Key Vault, Application Insights and Log Analytics; Entra ID and ConfigCat; service-oriented integrations and Sentinet API management; and GitHub, Jira and Confluence. AI tooling includes Claude Code and Cowork, shared agent skills, and MCP connections to systems such as logs, SQL and Jira.

AI-Assisted Development Expectations:

AI use is a core expectation of this position. Each change request must include an AI-written technical plan, and AI agents are expected to open pull requests for human review. Acceptance criteria define expected behavior and guide test creation. Human reviewers remain accountable for technical plans, code, tests and production promotion while automated verification is evaluated and improved.

Within 60 days, the developer should own a feature area with plans and pull requests requiring minimal rework. Within 90 days, the developer should contribute a shared agent skill or rules improvement. Ongoing success includes improved delivery throughput, fewer escaped defects, evidence-based quality controls and active mentoring of junior developers.
