BKF Engineers has an immediate need for an Engineering Manager with strong technical abilities, experience in public works/capital improvement project design, and the ability to lead a team of engineers on small and large projects.

The ideal candidate for an Engineering Manager has strong technical abilities and significant experience in Public Works/Capital Improvement Projects. We are looking for individuals who can independently apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria using their experience and judgment. Good communication skills.  Ability to plan, schedule, conduct, or coordinate all technical work for small to major projects. Assist Project Managers in preparing current project status for informing clients on progress and internal reporting. Lead the Plan Preparation and Design process.  Supervise/coordinate and mentor the team of Engineers, Drafters, Technicians, and others who assist in specific assignments. Lead the Quality Control effort on your projects. AutoCAD and Civil 3D mastery are required.

Responsibilities: 

  • Project Management Assistance: Budgeting, Schedules, Client Care, Invoicing
  • Design Team Management: Collaboration, Task Assignment, and Scheduling
  • Design:
    • Feasibility and basis of design
    • PS&E submittals and packages for Public Works Infrastructure and Site Development
    • Federal, State, City, and County Standards
    • Technical Reports
  • Agency Liaison: Coordination with public agencies and stakeholders
  • Project Controls: Quality Control for project deliverables

Qualifications:

  • 9+ years of experience in site development, design of residential and/or commercial subdivisions, utility systems, and roadways.
  • B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET Accredited Curriculum or equivalent required.
  • Professional Engineering license in the State of California is required.
  • AutoCAD and Civil 3D mastery are required.
  • Public Works/Capital Improvement project experience including streets (pavement rehabilitation, streetscape, complete streets, etc.); trails and parks; on-call assignments; public building site development, and other municipal engineering.

Location: 

  • This position has the option to work out of our Walnut Creek, Pleasanton, Redwood City, or Sacramento office.

Pay:

  • The typical base salary range for this position is $137,000 - $154,000 annualized depending upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location. This is a salaried position paid biweekly.
