Description

We are hiring a Senior Project Engineer to work out of our San Jose Office!        
   
BKF has an immediate opening for a senior-level civil engineer with strong technical abilities and focus on traffic-related design experience supporting traffic and transportation for roadways, highways, intersections, rail, bike/ped/complete streets, and transit. The ideal candidate will be familiar with public works and Caltrans projects. 

As a senior-level civil engineer, you will independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment in making adaptations and modifications  You will assist the Project Managers in preparing current status information for internal reporting and keeping clients informed on progress. You will supervise or coordinate the work of drafters, technicians, and others who assist in specific assignments.    
    
Responsibilities: 
  • Transportation/Traffic Design for roadway, highway, intersection projects, and multi-modal (ATP) projects for Public Works and Caltrans projects.
  • Traffic signal, lighting/electrical, signing, striping, and stage construction/ traffic handling
  • Accident and safety analysis
  • Transportation Management Plans(TMP)
  • Bid and construction support, including RFIs and Shop drawings
Qualifications:            
  • 6+ years of experience in traffic and transportation design required
  • B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET Accredited Curriculum or equivalent required
  • Professional Engineering license in the State of California is highly preferred. EIT required
  • AutoCAD -Civil 3D mastery required
  • MicroStation V8i, Auto Turn, AGi32 Lighting Analysts, & SignCAD experience
  • Transportation/roadway/public works experience
  • Caltrans experience with Traffic Design Standards, PID, PA&ED, and PS&Es desired
  • Diversified experience within various stages/design elements of a project is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills, including staff, consultant, and client coordination.
  • RFP/RFQ familiarity

Pay:            
  • The typical base salary range for this position is $119,000 - $145,000 annualized depending upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location. This is an hourly position paid biweekly.
