Supply Chain Tustin, California

Description

Looking to join a passionate team dedicated to developing and manufacturing life-saving biopharmaceuticals? Avid Bioservices is a leading clinical and commercial biologics CDMO focused on creating innovative solutions to meet the needs of our clients and improve patient outcomes.
Your Role:
The Director of Supply Chain Operations is responsible for the end-to-end execution of daily GMP supply chain and warehouse operations supporting both clinical and commercial manufacturing. This role is intentionally execution- and operations-focused, with accountability for material operations, receiving, kitting, inventory control, warehousing, and logistics to ensure materials are available, released, and production-ready in alignment with an established manufacturing plan.
Operating within a regulated cGMP environment, this role ensures that supply chain and warehouse operations function as a well-oiled, inspection-ready operation, with disciplined processes, strong quality systems, and seamless coordination with Manufacturing, Quality, and external partners. The Director serves as the primary SME and client-facing representative for GMP material operations during regulatory inspections and client audits.
Key Responsibilities:
GMP Material Operations & Readiness
  • Own daily execution of GMP material operations including receiving, inspection coordination, inventory control, kitting, staging, and issuance of materials to manufacturing.
  • Ensure material readiness to support manufacturing schedules by proactively managing execution risk, material timing, and release dependencies.
  • Oversee GMP kit issuance and reconciliation activities, ensuring right-first-time execution and traceability.
  • Maintain accurate material status in alignment with Quality systems and batch requirements.
  • Ensure materials are released, staged, and available at point of use to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations.

Inventory Control & Warehouse Management
  • Lead GMP warehouse operations including raw materials, consumables, intermediates, and finished goods.
  • Establish and enforce robust controls for inventory accuracy, cycle counting, reconciliation, and chain of custody.
  • Ensure warehouse operations are maintained to cGMP standards, including housekeeping, segregation, labeling, and access controls.
  • Drive disciplined execution of material movements, returns, and disposition activities.
  • Own ERP and warehouse systems administration from an operational perspective, ensuring data integrity, user discipline, and compliant workflows.
Execution Against Plan
  • Execute material operations against an established manufacturing and demand plan.
  • Provide operational input into forecasting and demand signals as needed, while remaining accountable for execution, readiness, and risk mitigation, not demand ownership.
  • Identify material execution risks early and proactively escalate with mitigation plans.
3PL & External Warehouse Oversight
  • Provide operational and quality oversight of multiple 3PL and external warehouse partners supporting GMP material storage and logistics.
  • Own performance management including SLAs, KPIs, investigation of discrepancies, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure 3PL operations meet internal quality expectations and cGMP regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and support qualification, ongoing oversight, and audit activities for external warehousing partners.
Quality Systems & Audit Leadership
  • Serve as the primary SME for GMP supply chain and warehouse operations during client audits, regulatory inspections, and internal audits.
  • Own deviations, investigations, and CAPAs related to Supply Chain and warehouse operations.
  • Ensure Supply Chain SOPs, work instructions, and records meet ALCOA and cGMP expectations.
  • Partner closely with Quality Assurance to ensure alignment on material status, disposition, and compliance.
  • Ensure sustained inspection readiness through daily operational discipline, not event-based preparation.
Leadership & Talent Development
  • Lead and develop a multi‑layer, multi‑shift organization including managers, supervisors, and material handlers.
  • Maintain a hands‑on, floor‑based leadership presence, setting expectations through direct observation and engagement.
  • Build capability in GMP execution, material control, problem-solving, and quality ownership.
  • Foster a strong culture of accountability, compliance, and continuous improvement across warehouse operations.
Metrics, Performance & Continuous Improvement
  • Establish and monitor operational KPIs related to material readiness, inventory accuracy, right‑first‑time execution, and service to internal customers.
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen compliance, reliability, and operational efficiency.
  • Partner cross‑functionally to resolve systemic issues impacting material flow, release timing, or execution discipline

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent from four-year college or university plus at least 7-10 years’ related experience and/or training relating to Supply Chain, Production Planning and/or Inventory Control.
  • Demonstrated experience leading GMP warehousing operations supporting both clinical and commercial manufacturing.
  • Proven success serving as an operational SME during regulatory inspections and client audits.
  • Experience overseeing third‑party logistics (3PL) providers in regulated environments.
  • Deep knowledge of cGMP requirements related to material controls, inventory management, and data integrity.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • APICS Certification preferred
