Job Summary:
Leadership of production teams (1-6 High speed manufacturing processes) run on a 24/5 and/or 24/7 basis to deliver and exceed objectives in safety, quality, productivity, customer service, cost and internal control.
Set and implement strategies to achieve objectives and drive year on year improvement YOY improvement across all key performance metrics
Lead and develop team of up to approximately 60 operating team members to deliver objectives and sustain work system disciplines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage team to ensure key objectives are obtained in all business areas including safety, housekeeping, human resource development, quality, customer service, asset management, cost and internal controls.
- Provide an environment that is safe, healthy, challenging, fosters teamwork, a willingness to participate and continuous improvement.
- Provide direction and leadership for the operations, process, and maintenance functions to ensure continuous improvement in machine operation and reliability, product quality, cost, customer service, and scrap. Set objectives and strategies to accomplish them.
- Maintain appropriate staffing levels within defined operational costs and required workload.
- Evaluate employees’ performance to determine training needs and development opportunities.
- Recruit and develop high quality personnel to ensure effective and continuous operations within the framework of plant objectives and high-performance team philosophies.
- Provide leadership to ensure the organization attracts, develops and retains the best people and fosters an environment which motivates a diverse team to fully use its capabilities in achieving desired business results.
- Interact with operational resources to maintain open free-flowing communication while driving data-based, logical decision making.
- Interface with inter-departmental personnel and business teams to build positive, constructive relationships while meeting internal and external customer expectations.
- Manage the execution of manufacturing operations to achieve conformance to plan while adhering to schedules and quality standards. Forecast capacity and manage activity to support customer service delivery
- Coordinate with operations planning to determine the best approach for scheduling to maximize efficiency.
- Define, track and communicate performance to targets/KPI’s. Implements corrective action plans when not meeting standards.
- Define, justify, manage and implement projects within the scope of the role that help deliver better than current performance.
- Provide leadership for process specific problem-solving, to evaluate and improve operational processes and systems.
- Contribute to an environment in which all team members are respected regardless of their individual differences and are motivated to improve both their individual and team contributions to achieve desired business results.
- Support the facility’s EHS policy; comply with all local EHS legislation and codes; identify, report, investigate and address any EHS substandard acts and/or conditions; and drive the setting of EHS objectives and evaluate the effectiveness of the facility’s EHS Management System.
- Support the facility’s QMS policy and compliance by contributing to the development, implementation, and continual improvement of the effectiveness of the Quality Management System.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or minimum 10 years’ experience in an operational leadership capacity in a manufacturing environment.
- Statistical and/or lean manufacturing process training
- Have broad technical knowledge and significant experience in operations, maintenance and/or engineering, and a working knowledge of multifunctional issues.
- Experience driving improvements through engaged development of operational standards, processes and systems
- Strong communication, interpersonal and team building skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Statistical and/or lean manufacturing process training.
- Prior experience in high performance work systems and operational excellence environments.
- Specific knowledge of absorbent hygiene business.
