Summary
The Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) department plays a key role in Arcus' R&D by characterizing the ADME properties of drug candidates and providing data-driven insights to drug discovery and development. Two summer internship positions in DMPK are available for this year. This internship offers hands-on experience in small molecule bioanalysis and data processing. Interns will assist in developing high-throughput LC-MS methods for plasma protein binding (PPB) assays and building workflows for metabolite identification (MetID) data analysis using Compound Discoverer.
Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize high-throughput LC-MS methods using serum albumin columns to evaluate compound plasma protein binding in human and preclinical species.
- Assist in building MetID data analysis workflow using Compound Discoverer software.
- Perform routine lab activities including sample preparation, data collection and analysis.
- Maintain accurate experimental records.
Qualifications
- Complete or enroll in a Master's or PhD program in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Analytical Chemistry or a related field.
- Basic wet-lab experience is required
- Hands-on experiences in LC-MS are preferred
- Prior internship or research experience in DMPK or related fields is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to learn quickly and work in a team environment

Physical Requirements
• Frequently stand, walk, twist, bend, stoop, squat, grasp lightly, use fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, perform desk-based computer tasks, use telephone, write by hand, lift, carry, push and pull objects weighing over 40 pounds. • Occasionally sit, kneel, crawl, reach and work above shoulders, sort and file paperwork or parts. • Rarely climb, scrub, sweep, mop, chop and mix or operate hand and foot controls. • Must have correctible vision to perform duties of the job. • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, stand, reach above shoulder level, and move on hard surfaces for up to eight hours. • Ability to lift heavy objects, possibly weighing up to 50 pounds. • Position may require repetitive motion.
