Senior Systems Engineer
As a Senior Systems Engineer at Al Jazeera Media Network, you will play a key role in keeping our core systems and storage infrastructure running seamlessly, securely, and at scale.
You will work within a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment where your expertise will be critical in maintaining high availability and resilience across our platforms.
From resolving system and storage incidents—including outages, failures, and security threats—to proactively monitoring performance and system health, you will be at the forefront of ensuring operational excellence.
In this role, you will take a hands-on approach to configuring, maintaining, and deploying enterprise servers, storage solutions, and associated infrastructure. You will also support ongoing optimisation efforts, ensuring our systems remain stable, secure, and future-ready.
We are looking for someone who thrives under pressure, takes ownership, and brings a proactive, solutions-driven mindset. Flexibility is key, as you will be part of an on-call and shift rotation to support our 24/7 operations
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and maintain AJMN’s IT Infrastructure systems stability and performance, and resolves any impact to service, ensure key performance indicators, and service-level agreements are met.
- Provision new servers and systems as required.
- Identify and resolve faults, incidents, problems, service requests and change requests from the AJMN Service Desk in a professional manner to agreed service levels.
- React to security incidents by performing sink-holing, applying security patches and other security operations.
- Ensure that problems are documented with detailed diagnosis that is accurate and compliant with existing processes.
Education:
- Bachelor or higher in IT, Computer Science or related field or exceptional prior experience
- Tertiary qualifications in IT systems related Industry Standard Certifications preferred. Advanced Certifications is a plus.
Experience:
- 6+ years in IT and Technology domain
- Proven working experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting Windows /UNIX /Linux based environments.
- Experience with back office products
- Architecture & design of information and operational support systems
- Experience with Virtualization and cloud Services
- Experience with Enterprise backup & monitoring systems
