We are currently seeking an AV Technician, Facilities to join our AV Services team. Under the direction of the Director, Facility Services, the incumbent will set‑up/install and ensure effective operation of audio‑visual equipment for projects and events. They will deliver outstanding customer service to AGO internal and external clients.
What is this position responsible for?
- Sets-up audio-visual equipment according to work orders for events. Prepares and sets-up equipment, performs sound checks, monitors and/or operates equipment during events and meets or exceeds client’s expectations. Tears down equipment and stores according to department protocol.
- Installs and dismantles audio-visual equipment for projects in accordance with assigned work orders/drawings. Ensures equipment is operating effectively.
- Maintains audio-visual equipment and event spaces; ensures equipment is operating effectively, troubleshoots and performs minor repairs as needed.
- Performs routine maintenance of audio-visual equipment, work area and tools. Assists with inventory and administrative tasks. Books, delivers and retrieves equipment as required.
- Sets up and dismantles furniture required for audio visual use.
- Maintains log of all activities.
- Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
What are we looking for?
- College degree in an audio-visual field or equivalent related work experience.
- Demonstrated abilities of working with systems using latest and legacy technology. Some examples include: video/computer playback systems (including front/rear/ceiling projection/display technology, computer hardware and software), P.A. systems, lighting systems, multi-format recording.
- Demonstrated knowledge of information technology hardware and software systems related to audio visual industry.
- Demonstrated ability to operate and troubleshoot audio-visual equipment.
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills. Communicates effectively and maintains productive relationships with all levels of the organization.
- Proven strong commitment to outstanding customer service, professional attitude and appearance.
- Proven ability to work independently or in a team environment.
- Ability to take verbal and written directions and follow through.
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing work priorities and demands.
- Ability to work within timelines, meet project deadlines and manage variety of tasks
- Familiar with WHMIS and safety regulations and practices.
