We are currently seeking a Regular Full-Time, Assistant Manager, Facility Services to join our Facility Services team. Under the direction of the Deputy Director, Facility Services, the incumbent will manage the day-to-day activities of the assigned department personnel, ensuring efficient, customer-focused delivery of housekeeping and other services. They will provide guidance and training to departmental staff and resolved service delivery issues. The Assistant Manager, Facility Services will work weekends and some evenings to support the operation of the building and delivery of services.

 

The rate of pay for this position is $74,947 - $93,602 per annum.

 

What is this position responsible for?

  • Manages the delivery of services provided to the institution, focusing on efficient processes and resolving operational concerns and conflicts as they arise.   Conducts ongoing and regular inspections of the work provided by facility services to the Gallery and takes appropriate action to resolve existing or potential health & safety, customer service, building or maintenance issues.
  • Manages the work performance of subordinate departmental staff to bring the highest level of efficiency and performance through training, assigning, scheduling and monitoring quality and completion of work, providing ongoing feedback and support. Provides health & safety training in compliance with OHS legislation and standards.  Assists in the hiring process.
  • Under the direction of the Deputy Director, Facility Services, assists with the development and management of the budget for labour and materials related to housekeeping. Identifies efficiencies in departmental systems, work processes, and supply costs.   Identifies equipment and material needs and ensures adequate stock, materials, and equipment are on hand.
  • Manages labour relations issues at the complaint stage, investigating and working toward resolution.

 

What are we looking for?

  • Comprehensive knowledge of cleaning and housekeeping principles, procedures and work standards combined with a number of years directly related experience.
  • Knowledge of facility operation procedures: mail, shipping/receiving, maintenance, material handling, inventory.
  • Working knowledge of appropriate computer systems.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated labour management and supervisory skills in a unionized environment.
  • Demonstrated customer service excellence.
  • Well-developed administrative, organizational and trouble-shooting skills.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and team building skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety, WHMIS and safety regulations and practices.
