(Up to 24 hours per week; must be available to work weekdays, evenings, weekends and holidays. Saturday and Sunday full availability required. Must be available the first Wednesday of the month from 5:30pm – 9:00pm and one other full availability from Tuesday, Thursday or Friday.)

We are currently seeking a Temporary Part-time Visitor Services Representative to join our Visitor Services team. Under the direction of the Associate Director, Visitor Welcome, the incumbent will provide a warm welcome and detailed information and support services to all Gallery visitors, helping to ensure an exceptional visitor experience. Duties include issuing admission tickets in accordance with the admission program, scanning tickets and directing patrons, including Jackman Hall theatre for Gallery events; audio guide and cloakroom as required.
The rate of pay for the position is $22.59 - $28.25 per hour.
What is this position responsible for?
- Greets visitors to the Gallery and provides detailed information, as requested regarding permanent collection displays, special exhibitions, educational programming, cultural events, hours of operation, admission policies, and ticketing procedures and pricing structure in the admissions program, as well as responding to all visitors’ queries.
- Enters requested admission information into a computer; receives admission fees from visitors, and issues appropriate tickets at ticket locations throughout the Gallery.
- Collects tickets from visitors and directs visitors to requested Gallery exhibition locations. Checks bookings for school groups on the daily booking schedule list and coordinates the admission of groups for scheduled visits. Directs visitors to cloakroom and audio-guide rental locations, as required.
What are we looking for?
- Minimum of 2 years experience working in a fast paced customer service area.
- Minimum 1 year experience in a museum or cultural institution.
- Knowledge of information technology hardware and software systems related to the entry of information and the issuance of tickets related to the ticketing process.
- Proficient with email, databases and Microsoft Office Suite
- Verbal communication and public relations skills to effectively represent the Gallery in greeting visitors, to respond to customer enquiries, to provide advice and guidance on ticketing requirements based on visitor need.
- Previous ticketing and cash handling experience.
- Familiarity with local cultural activities and points of interest.
- Keyboarding skills.
- Familiarity with the AGO’s permanent collection and special exhibitions preferred.
- Ability to speak another language an asset.
