Cook 1, Members Lounge 

Regular Part-Time  

(Up to 24 hours per week; must be available weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays; must be available at least one weekend and one weekday shift)

Located in Toronto, the Art Gallery of Ontario (“the AGO”) is one of the largest art museums in North America, with a collection of close to 100,000 works. Through the collection as well as collaborations with leading museums around the world, the AGO presents wide-ranging exhibitions and programs to more than 1 million visitors annually. Focused on delivering content of exceptional quality and contemporary relevance, the AGO is deepening relationships with existing members and visitors, attracting new and diverse audiences, and strengthening its recognition on a global scale. At the AGO, our Food and Beverage team has the opportunity to get creative and build menus and culinary experiences that reflect our featured exhibitions and art pieces. 

We are currently searching for an Regular Part-Time Cook 1, Members Lounge who will be an integral part of the AGO Food and Beverage team. Under the direction of the Senior Manager, Culinary Operations, the incumbent will participate in all food preparation, set up, service, and breakdown of lunch, brunch or dinner shifts as scheduled.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications, skills, and experience: 

  • 4 or more years directly related experience at a high quality, volume, hospitality or retail operation.
  • Provincial Certificate of Qualification as Journeyman cook, or equivalent training or experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary creative cuisine.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of food handling and advanced cooking techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle all kitchen equipment, and demonstrate safe handling to others
  • Demonstrated knowledge of food handling, safety and sanitation standards.
  • Teamwork, time management, and organization skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of hospitality practices and procedures
  • Well-developed communication skills, able to expedite, call line, in absence of chef/sous chef.

  • Demonstrated understanding of cultural difference, sensitivity, awareness and lived experience

The rate of pay for this position is $21.41 - $26.74  per hour
