Located in Toronto, the Art Gallery of Ontario is one of the largest art museums in North America, attracting approximately one million visitors annually. The AGO Collection of more than 120,000 works of art ranges from cutting-edge contemporary art to significant works by Indigenous and Canadian artists and European masterpieces.
We are seeking a Regular Full-Time Systems Support Analyst – Databases to join our Information Technology team, on-site. Reporting to the Manager, IT, this role provides technical analysis and support to Gallery staff, with a primary focus on SQL systems and database administration. The successful candidate will also contribute to the evaluation and selection of systems across the organization and collaborate with the IT team to support specialized applications as needed.
The rate of pay for this position is $68,595 - $ 85,685 per annum.
What You’ll Do in the Role:
- Administer, maintain, and enhance SQL database systems, ensuring performance, security, integrity, and availability
- Design data models, troubleshoot database issues, and manage backups, recovery, and system monitoring
- Develop reports (SSRS) and maintain data integration processes (SSIS/DTS)
- Install, configure, and upgrade systems and applications; support automation and scripting initiatives
- Provide technical support to users, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with vendors when needed
- Participate in IT projects, including system implementations, upgrades, and lifecycle support
- Train users, develop documentation, and support onboarding on systems and tools
- Assist with system security, access controls, and on-call support as required
- Contribute to evaluation and selection of hardware and software solutions
What You Bring:
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server (2008 R2–2017) and MS Access; experience with MySQL and/or PostgreSQL is an asset
- Experience with reporting tools such as SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) and/or Crystal Reports
- Microsoft certifications (e.g., MCP, MCDBA) are considered an asset
- Minimum 5+ years of relevant, progressively responsible experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Solid experience supporting and administering:
- Windows Server (2008+) and Windows Workstations
- Active Directory
- Microsoft Exchange (2010+)
- Microsoft Office suite
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
