The Senior Cloud Architect/Engineer is responsible for designing and validating enterprise cloud architecture solutions supporting modernization initiatives, ensuring secure, scalable, and compliant integration of cloud services with on-premises infrastructure
Location: Rockville, MD
Salary:  155,00-183,000
Clearance:  Secret or L Clearance
 
 

Responsibilities:

• Design enterprise cloud architecture frameworks integrating on-premises VMware environments, network infrastructure, identity services, Microsoft 365 platforms, and cloud-native services ensuring secure hybrid connectivity and alignment with cloud strategy objectives
• Define cloud reference architectures, configuration standards, identity integration models, network segmentation strategies, and security control baselines consistent with applicable cybersecurity requirements and enterprise technical guidelines
• Validate architecture compliance prior to implementation ensuring monitoring integration, SIEM log ingestion, backup alignment, and disaster recovery strategies are incorporated into design
• Provide architectural review and technical advisement to executive leadership regarding modernization planning, migration sequencing, risk mitigation strategies, and performance optimization approaches
• Evaluate infrastructure modernization proposals ensuring cost efficiency, scalability, and alignment with enterprise governance frameworks including oversight processes
• Produce architecture diagrams, technical standards documentation, design review artifacts, and review documents
• Participate in Change Advisory Board processes reviewing cloud design modifications and ensuring architectural consistency across support areas
• Enforce quality standards including secure design validation, scalability assessments, integration testing completeness, and measurable performance stability following implementation

 Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree; 8+ years relevant experience; design and govern implementation of enterprise cloud architecture solutions; define technical standards; evaluate and validate cloud infrastructure designs; ensure alignment with enterprise requirements; collaborate with engineering teams to implement scalable cloud environments.
Master’s Degree with 6+ years or Associate’s Degree with 10+ years of relevant experience may be substituted.
• Experience designing hybrid cloud architectures integrating on-premise infrastructure with cloud services
• Knowledge of enterprise identity federation, network segmentation, and secure connectivity models
• Experience defining cloud architecture standards, reference models, and governance frameworks
• Familiarity with integrating monitoring, backup, and disaster recovery strategies into cloud architecture designs
• Experience presenting architecture designs and modernization roadmaps to executive stakeholders
• Preferred Certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert; AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional
