As a result of our continued success, we are seeking a Fault Management Engineer to join our team of qualified individuals supporting a Government client located in Ft. Meade, MD. The candidate will need to have experience and high familiarity with Event Management concepts, as well as practical experience building, enhancing, integrating, maintaining and using Fault Management systems.

Job duties:

  • Perform analysis of documented user requirements and assist in the architecture and design activities surrounding the fault management suite of tools.
  • Configure the fault management systems to properly handle event traffic, to primarily include: discovery manipulation and modification, and event rules creation and modification
  • Work with device owners to understand the role of a device, the specifics of a device’s implementation, and the way a device communicates to properly understand how event handling rules should be built.
  • Review the production system on a regular basis to identify gaps in rules coverage.
  • Participate as a development team member in an agile team to organize rules development efforts.
  • Document changes in a change log for review and Change Management processes.
  • Work with other developers to integrate the Fault Management system with other OSS systems as required.
  • Work with project teams to ensure that test needs are clearly and cleanly articulated and accounted for under assigned projects
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Experience with IBM Tivoli Netcool/Omnibus rules creation
  • Experience with the other IBM/Tivoli suite of products (to include IBM Tivoli Network Manager)
  • Strong knowledge of SNMP, and the ability to understand and analyze a device’s usage and configuration of same
  • Strong knowledge and experience using syslog, rSyslog and SyslogNG
  • Knowledge of telecom devices and networking devices and concepts, and how to break down management functions that the devices utilize (specifically SNMP and syslog)
  • Must be able to interact easily and professionally with clients
  • Understanding fundamental agile concepts

Desired Skills: 

  • Experience with GitHub and/or GitLab
  • Experience and comfort with perl and python scripting languages
  • Experience with RESTful web services
  • Experience with other fault management tools other than the Tivoli/Netcool suite
  • Experience in customer service relations and problem solving

Education, Certification, and Experience:

  • Requires a Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience
  • Requires one of the following certifications for DoD 8570.01 compliance: CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, SSCP, CASP+ CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), GCED, GCIH
  • ITIL v3 Certification is desired
  • Product certifications for IBM Tivoli products are desired
  • Requires at least 5 years of previous fault management experience

Security Clearance:

  • Active/current DoD Secret Clearance or higher
  • Investigation/Reinvestigation completed within the last 5 years

Work Location:

  • Annapolis Junction, MD, and/or Ashburn, VA
  • Some work will be done at Ft. Meade, MD
