The Supervisor, Publishing Investment reports into the VP Director, Publishing Investment. The role of this job is to ensure that all media plans and campaigns for the clients portfolio are running smoothly and seamlessly. You are responsible for developing and negotiating integrated buys across publishing houses to create greatest efficiency. You are in charge of managing the campaigns and related costs to controlling campaigns. You will supervise the Buyers and Associates assigned to the accounts that the Manager oversees. Some pharmaceutical experience or interest is a plus. 

You will support the Account Director on strategic recommendations and tactical plan development across a number of different client brands/Havas offices. Additionally will work closely with the Director and Group Director to develop objectives and strategies and execute all media plans. The Manager will be the lead to ensure that a clients Deals, negotiations,positoning and  added value are meeting the brands goals.

As the Manager you’ll have a strong working knowledge of the media space and available media research. You’ll be an active participant on the business; consistently engaged and contributing ideas and insights that will benefit your clients.


  • Develops client media communication plan objectives and strategies.
  • Manages portfolio of accounts or specific account (depending).
  • Oversees the deals, negotiations, positoning and added value of each client.
  • Conducts weekly meetings with clients and keep them in contact and up to date on their business.
  • Develop and maintain an intimate knowledge of client business.
  • Gather and analyze appropriate research to develop plan options and strategic recommendations across all assets using standard tools (@Plan, AdRelevance, etc.).
  • Manages the agencies pricing in master rate grid.
  • Creates the development and maintance of publishing descriptions and offerings for every house.
  • Creates and oversees/maintains media plans, flowcharts, buying guidelines, testing plans & results analysis, budget summaries, plan delivery and competitive reports plan presentations.
  • Liase with the Publishing Account Director to define strategies, recommendations and lead negotiations.
  • Presenting to clients (when appropriate).
  • Writing and developing Point Of Views (POVs) on vendors in both the digital and print space.
  • Developing partnerships with vendors and publishers across all platforms (print, digital, tablet, mobile, social, experiential, content).
  • Monitor media performance to ensure original objectives and strategies are being met.
  • Conducting negotiations with media sales reps.
  • Developing and negotiating all positioning, programs and added value with vendors.
  • Maintain accurate budget control and flow of publishing activity, and update client on timely/consistent basis.
  • Analyzing campaign performance and recommend necessary optimizations.
  • Managing and tracking all data from campaigns to ensure proper delivery and compliance with corporate deals.
  • Oversee development of post analysis reports to review media performance (positioning report, circulation shortfall analysis, digital tracking).
  • Work on all new business rate requests and development of programs.
  • Reporting on media investment and identifying trends and issues to address with clients.
  • Establish collaborative, productive working relationship with internal/external planning teams to ensure media strategies are being delivered and brand goals/client needs are being met.
  • Provide input into existing and emerging communications opportunities relevant to assigned brand/category.
  • Manage any client requests – i.e., plan changes, budget changes, provide marketplace information.


  • 4+ years of offline and online media buying experience, including negotiation at the vendor level.
  • 2+ years of planning experience is ideal.
  • Client presentation experience is required.
  • Solid command of media planning/buying techniques, tools, terms and conditions.
  • Great business sense and negotiating skills.
  • Confidence and persuasive manner.
  • Must be organized, efficient and have strong attention to detail.
  • Thrives in a fast pace, constantly changing environment; can adapt plans due to changes in client objectives, priorities or budgets while minimizing impact on project momentum.
  • Ability to articulate and develop clear and concise opinions on the media landscape and relevant vendors.
  • Ability to work autonomously, take ownership of projects, and work in a collaborative fashion with all teams.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication, leadership, initiative and creative problem solving skills.
  • Ability to manage simultaneous tasks in a fast-paced technology-oriented environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Manage junior team members.
  • First team management experience appreciated.
