Writing Instructor - College of Arts and Sciences
The Department of English at Suffolk University is seeking a non-tenure-track instructor of college writing for 2019-2020 (one-year position, renewable based on need). Writing instructors teach four courses each semester, the majority of them in standard college writing (WRI 101/102, course cap 19). Other general literature courses or courses in emerging interdisciplinary initiatives, such as our Creativity/Innovation requirement, may be included in the course load. A modest amount of service to the department and the university through committee membership, student advising, and attending certain departmental events is also required. We will prioritize the applications of candidates who hold terminal degrees in a writing field with experience teaching composition. The ideal candidate would also have demonstrable experience teaching English to international students.
Applications should be submitted through the Suffolk HR website and should include the following elements: 1) letter of application; 2) CV; 3) transcripts; 4) a statement of teaching philosophy, and/or evidence of teaching effectiveness. Review of applications will begin immediately, with a final application deadline of June 15, 2019. Any additional documents can be sent directly to Maureen Dooley, Human Resources Coordinator, at email@example.com.
