Progress Software Corporation is looking for a mid-level corporate and litigation paralegal to support the Enterprise Legal Services team within Progress’s Legal Department. The Paralegal will provide essential support to the legal department by assisting attorneys and other legal professionals in litigation, dispute resolution, compliance, and transactional matters. This role helps support the organization’s legal interests through document management, diligent research, and collaboration across multiple practice areas, including litigation, data privacy, intellectual property, export compliance, employment law, and contract administration. This position will report directly to the Principal Litigation Counsel, Enterprise Legal Services.

This role helps support the organization’s legal interests through document management, diligent research, and collaboration across multiple practice areas, including litigation, data privacy, intellectual property, export compliance, employment law, and contract administration. This position will report directly to the Principal Litigation Counsel, Enterprise Legal Services.
In this role, you will:
- Litigation Support: Support global litigation and customer disputes, including a very large and complex multi-district data breach litigation based in Massachusetts Federal Court. Prepare, review, draft, and organize responses to customer disputes as well as legal documents for court proceedings. Manage discovery materials, assist in legal analysis, and coordinate with external counsel and internal stakeholders when appropriate.
- Export Compliance: Conduct export compliance SDN/OFAC screenings; Assist with project to audit export classification for the company’s products.
- Data Privacy: Assist with projects to map the company’s use of personal data and inventory business systems and evaluate each under data privacy regulations (e.g., legal bases, data privacy impact assessments, etc.); Facilitate and administer the company’s data subject access request process and responses pursuant to global privacy laws and regulations.
- Intellectual Property: Conduct trademark clearing searches for new product names. File copyright registrations with the Library of Congress.
- Employment Law: Review and draft updates to company policies to comply with changing employment laws. Work with Global Employment Counsel on special projects, including the review and revision of various employment agreements.
- Contracts: Assist with reviewing, drafting and revising a wide variety of vendor contracts, including non-disclosure agreements, customer and supplier agreements, professional services agreements and distributor agreements.
- Legal Research & Writing: Conduct various research projects in any of the areas listed above.
Your background:
- Prior paralegal experience preferred
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide clear, correct and concise written and oral advice in a business context.
- Flexibility and willingness to work on a broad variety of legal matters,
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to new or unfamiliar challenges or areas of responsibility.
- Ability to form solid working relationships with internal clients while maintaining firm adherence to proper legal standards.
