Assistant Production Manager

Are you an experienced Production Leader who enjoys variety in your day? If so, Appeeling Fruit has an amazing opportunity to join our expanded 2nd shift as an Assistant Production Manager.  This new supervisory position will partner closely with our Production Manager to ensure our customer’s orders are completed in a timely and efficient manner without comprising food safety or quality. The Assistant Production Manager is also charged with driving a culture of high performance and accountability in all aspects of our business.

What Makes this Job So Unique?
As the Assistant Production Manager, you will have a unique opportunity to make a significant and meaningful contribution to the success of Appeeling Fruit and its customers through the following core job responsibilities:

  • Verifying daily monitoring records and inputting all required data for 1st and 2nd shift
  • Completing trace forward, traceback and reconciliations daily to support 100% audit readiness
  • Implementing tools and metrics needed to evaluate efficiencies and costs
  • Managing major costs under production control (Packaging, Labor, Treatment)
  • Publishing the schedule for the next day upon completion of production
  • Scheduling regular and temporary employees as needed for 2nd shift
  • Coaching and developing department supervisors and leads
  • Enforcing all food safety practices, policies and guidelines
  • Coordinating with the Finance Department to complete cost accounting exercises
  • Actively participating in the Research and Development Team and Safety Committee

Qualified Candidates Should Possess:

  • 4-6 years of hands-on supervisory experience in a production or manufacturing environment. Prior experience with food or beverage manufacturing preferred.
  • Background in HACCP, OSHA, Organic and GMP
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to work well with employees at all levels of the organization
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong attention to detail and relentless dedication to continuous improvement
  • Ability to successfully balance multiple projects in an environment of tight deadlines
  • Availability for flexible hours - primarily 2nd shift but some 1st shift and weekend work as necessary
  • Ability to work as part of a diverse, cross-functional team
  • Ability to lift up to 70lbs and work for varied lengths of time in a cold-maintained environment
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish a plus!
