POSITION PURPOSE

The incumbent will be responsible for supervising Patient Registration staff. Incumbent provides leadership to Patient Registration clerks while managing the daily operations of the patient registration functions. This includes demographics and insurance data collections, outpatient pre-registration, registration, and patient scheduling. This individual will ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.

MINIMUM MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:    

  • Minimum of five (5) years work experience in a healthcare environment with two (2) years work in a supervisory role. 
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience working with an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.

Education:   

  • Bachelor Degree in business or healthcare related field OR any combination of post-secondary education and/or experience totaling eight (8) years work in a healthcare environment with at least two (2) years in a supervisory role.

Mandatory Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Qualifications: 

  • Strong leadership and staff development skills, including training, coaching, and counseling.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining complex clinical schedules for medical
  • Medical Terminology
  • Ability to work independently, make decisions, meet deadlines, multi-task and solve problems; working under a moderate to high degree of pressure.
  • High level of interpersonal skills and ability to develop effective working relationships.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple and changing priorities.
  • Excellent customer service
  • Must be proficient in use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Power Point) and able to type 45

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working in a professional office environment.

  • Bilingual skills in English and the Keres native language.

  • PRIOR EXPERIENCE WORKING WITH INDIAN HEALTH SERVICES (IHS), A TRIBE OR TRIBAL ORGANIZATION.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations of Patient Access functions which includes but is not limited to: staff supervision, performance evaluation, coaching, corrective actions, scheduling, pre-registration, benefit verification, and patient advocacy to ensure efficient and effective operations in accordance with policies, procedures and standards.
  • Promotes effective customer service demeanor in all interactions with patients, staff, and leadership.
  • Reviews Patient Access performance measure to ensure timeliness, accuracy, compliance and standards are in accordance with Patient Registration
  • Stays abreast of regulatory requirements and company compliance policies, ensuring timely staff
  • Develops, communicates, and trains staff in specific objectives and performance standards for each area of responsibility.
  • Attends in-service presentations, and complete mandatory education week including, but not limited to, infection control, patient safety, and quality improvements, MSDS and OSHA standards.
  • Collaborate with business office leadership to ensure that the actions of the team meet/support the operational goals of the revenue cycle.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Talking and hearing are essential to communicate with patients, visitors and staff.

Mental demands:       

There are a number of deadlines associated with this position. The employee must also multi-task and interact with a wider variety of people on various and, at times, complicated issues.
