Overview
INL is seeking a talented multimedia expert to join our creative team. As a Communication Officer your role will be crucial in shaping the visual identity of funded projects, events, and INL initiatives as well as in creating visually captivating content to reach diverse audiences through various media channels.
Job Duties
The primary job duties include the following:
Videography:
- Develop video content from initial scriptwriting to final editing and post-production;
- Produce initial drafts for review, incorporating feedback to refine the final product;
- Craft compelling video narratives that captivate and resonate with target audiences;
- Work closely with project stakeholders to understand and meet specific video requirements;
- Abide by the corporate or project identity manual to ensure brand consistency.
Photography:
- Manage all aspects of photography, from setting up shots to post-processing and editing;
- Ensure all photographic content aligns with INL's branding guidelines across various platforms.
Project Management Assistant:
- Assist in implementing communication strategies within funded projects, adhering to guidelines from funding agencies;
- Collaborate with internal customers to prepare and disseminate materials such as banners, roll-ups, signage, badges, certificates, and video/photographic support for events and projects;
- Maintain and enhance the visual identity of INL through consistent and innovative print designs;
- Partner with web developers to establish cohesive web functionalities;
- Choose and edit images for website use, ensuring they align with our brand, with appealing layouts and animations using design software and stock elements.
Communication Guidelines and Good Practices:
- Select fonts and colour schemes that enhance the project/INL brand's online presence;
- Gather feedback and iterate on designs to continuously improve quality;
- Maintain consistency and uphold INL's brand integrity across all visual content;
- Effectively communicate with all team members, providing and receiving timely feedback, to ensure tasks are executed smoothly and efficiently, fostering clear communication and mutual understanding.
The secondary job duties include the following:
Support Actions:
- Design and produce brochures, flyers, posters, and banners that effectively communicate our message;
- Assist in curating content for internal newsletters;
- Provide on-site support for events, ensuring smooth execution of communication tasks;
- Take corporate photos of new members and prepare their ID card designs;
- Synchronise new members' profiles with the website;
- Create and update webpages to document project outcomes and provide digital assets for various platforms.
Mandatory Qualifications
Education
- BSc Degree in Multimedia Arts and Communication.
Experience and Technical Skills
- Mastery of video editing tools such as “Adobe Premiere Pro”, “After Effects”, and other within the Adobe Suite products;
- Skilled in photo editing software like Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom;
- Proven experience as a multimedia artist or a similar role, already familiar with working with scientists and in research/technological centres;
- Familiarity with website design software (e.g., Squarespace);
- Proficiency in English.
Other Valued Skills
- Knowledge of Portuguese and/or Spanish will be highly valued

- Clearly demonstrated communication skills (written and oral);
- Strong attention to detail in all tasks;
- Ability to focus on customer needs and provide excellent service;
- High level of personal discipline and integrity;

How the Selection Process works
A. Applications eligibility check
This stage will be carried out on the basis of the mandatory requirements, education, experience and technical skills defined for the job, as well as the validation of the mandatory documents. Only candidates who meet the eligibility criteria will move forward to the next stage.
B. CV Assessment
The Selection Committee will evaluate the eligible applications based on their CV and other submitted documents and the suitability for the position. The best ranked candidates will be shortlisted for the interview stage(s).
C. Interview(s)
The interview(s) may be done in different formats: video recording, online or onsite.
The question-based interview will evaluate the match between the candidate’s profile and the requirements for the position, including the technical and personal skills. To better support this stage, the candidate may be requested to prepare a short presentation.
D. Nomination
The selected candidate will be nominated and formally offered the position, including the disclosure of the contractual conditions.
