Zymeworks is seeking a highly-motivated professional who is looking to grow their career with our company.

This position will report to the Senior Director, Canadian and International HR and will be based in Seattle, WA.

As a condition of employment, Zymeworks requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and provide verification of such.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute the recruiting process end to end while effectively utilizing the process, systems and tools.
  • Create and implement a sourcing strategy for the business to meet current staffing needs and work with team to build a pipeline for future roles ensuring quality, cost effectiveness and speed.
  • Conduct in-depth intake meetings with leaders to ensure alignment on position, impact and expectations while providing market insights and education.
  • Identify the best online sourcing channels for different candidate segments.
  • Leverage technology to locate, engage, and attract prospective candidates.
  • Identify the top-performing employees at talent competitors and use the right messages to reach high-quality candidates.
  • Proactively identify passive candidates and articulate business strategy to create a compelling story and gain candidate interest.
  • Ensure a positive experience for all candidates for assigned requisitions by providing timely, accurate, relevant feedback to internal & external candidates.
  • Organize targeted outreach events in the industry
  • Assess applicant/candidate quality, skills, and fit to identify the best candidate for a position.
  • Maintain effective relationships with candidates through the recruiting process.
  • Develop offer recommendations and deliver verbal/written offers to finalist candidates, negotiating as necessary to secure top talent.
  • Fosters effective and collaborative working relationships with fellow employees, management and external partners.

Qualifications and Experience

  • BS or BA degree and/or a master’s degree
  • 8+ years of experience in Talent Acquisition / Recruitment, Human Resources, Learning & Development and/or Diversity and Inclusion
  • At least two years of experience successfully recruiting in scientific and/or clinical functional areas within the Life Sciences or Clinical industry
  • Direct knowledge of HR functional disciplines, e.g., employee relations, recruiting, compensation / benefits, Immigration, relocation, training and management
  • Ability to quickly establish credibility with diverse audiences and deliver results
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Able to exercise judgement and independently resolve and take appropriate action where precedent may not exist
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Ability to comprehensively understand the business strategy and connect back to the talent strategy.
  • Capacity to anticipate future talent needs of the organization and build a pipeline of prospective talent.
  • Deep knowledge of the labor market(s), talent pools, and industry trends.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and consensus building skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, including the ability to prioritize workload based on business needs.
  • Strong functionality of Applicant Tracking Systems or Hiring Management Systems
  • Ability to work independently and in team environment, with a commitment to collaborative work, mentoring and knowledge sharing.
  • Ability to interface well with candidates and employees at all levels.
  • Intuitive, critical listening skills.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft products (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
